On to Mac

So I finally got a mac. It is wonderful, the Macbook Pro isn't just good engineering its perfection. Everything just works. Its the beautiful marriage between software and hardware. This laptop is literally everything you will ever want or need in a laptop. Great looks, battery life (10hrs),power, and great volume for not actually seeing any speakers. I can play every game in my steam library that works on Mac. Now onto OSX. OSX is so simple that its actually hard to get used to. Your used to windows where after you buy something you have to go through menu after menu pop up after pop up to just make your computer work the way you want. When you want to install a program you download it then drag it to applications folder. If you want it gone what do you do? Why go to the add/remove programs of course! not! Actually you just right click on application, click move to trash, then empty trash, and ta-da no more program. Its really so simple and well worth the money. Around April or so I might buy an iMac and put windows on that so im not relying on my ever so great Gateway netbook which now catches your legs on fire for some reason must be the eight core processor knocking around in there (sarcasm) I'm now on the Mac and loving it. Just wish it didnt take me so long to switch.

State of the PSP Address

Many would say the PSP is dieing. Its not competing with the DS very well at all in North America and the amount of big games coming is dwindling. Though with my recent purchase of a PSP GO I must say the PSP has plenty of life in it if Sony would just let it live! The PS3's motto is "It only does everything" the PSP's should be "why not" You have to remember how old the PSP is. It came before the iPhone/iPod Touch. It came before the Xbox 360. So when you think of the things the PSP could do out of the box its pretty amazing. It could play video! View photos, music, and shortly after launch browse the web. You might think wow my cell phone does all this but also think, the PSP came out before iPods could play video! This is way back when that thing called iTunes used to only sell music! There was no apps, there was no tv or movie downloads. The PSP was the only place to get ground breaking 3D games, music, photos, videos, and internet. So why is it that the PSP is going down the tubes? The answer lies within Sony. The PSP's problems could be fixed so easily. They need games. Find some way to get EA, Ubi Soft, and Activision involved with the PSP again. Start getting a good flow of games out there. Once that happens drop the price. Make the Go $179 or even $200 give people an incentive to buy the GO. If people have to download games they cant pirate them. This makes developers happy, thus more games. Another thing is to add features. Make more movie formats available, such as; Divx and Xvid. When people can get there movies on something easily, the happier they are. Overhaul the web browser. Adopt Opera where everything is done on a server elsewhere. Bring on the YouTube and various other applications such as Twitter and Facebook. You don't have to go crazy just satisfy peoples needs. Which brings me back to the "why not" slogan. People might ask why would I want to connect my PSP to my TV? Why would I want to use Skype on my PSP? The answer is "why not" If its there and is something that could come in handy one day or if its something you use everyday the PSP has it. So why would you want a PSP? Well how about "Why Not"? The PSP is an awesome device. It has a giant crisp screen. The Go is very portable and comfortable to hold. Its really a revolutionary device stuck in the past because of Sony. The PSP has sold 60million units up to December, 2009. The PSP is no flop its far from one. Sony pumped life into the PSP with a large amount of high profile games last year no lets just see more. There are 60Million of us Sony make us happy.

Out with the Old in with the New

Today I finally got the one thing I've saved up for, A band new 32GB Zune HD. I must say this was one of my most wanted gadgets ever. I was super excited to get one today. The Zune is super sleek thinner than my Zune 8GB and ever so sexy. Packing a Nvidia Tegra chip the Zune HD has really fast and rich animations. It even does a cool little slide show when you have it docked. The new UI is hard to get used to, it recognizes flat finger input. Which is good in the long run but I guess i'm just used to using the tip of my finger. Your music is real easy to find since you can sort it by album, artist, song, genre, and by pressing on a letter which is the quickest way. Videos look really good and crisp on the OLED display. The radio even comes in better. Im not sure how to get to HD1 or HD2 like what i saw but ill figure it out. The web browser is nice and quick and from what i've seen its comparable to Safari on the iPhone. Finally the apps. Now there are like 8 apps out right now most of which are some shouddy games like chess, etc.. but there is also a weather and calculator app. Now on to the bad. It seems like my Zune's screen flickers... I dont know if it is or its just me. Also I bought the $100 dock package that includes all sorts pf stuff and it doesn't work real well with my Zune HD, the remote doesnt work. I can press play and songs will play but i'm supposed to be able to select different menus. Now the Indian lady at Zune support said charge it... I don't know what the hell thats going to do but ill try it. It also weirds out when you just set it on the dock. Like it will switch back and fourth and it wont stop. Ill have to restart it. Other than the dock it works flawlessly and was well worth the wait. Ill probably be taking it back tomorrow to exchange it but we'll see. So that's it for now I'll keep you updated!

New Toy!

While I was at work on Friday a new toy arrived at my house. It was my new laptop, the Gateway LT 3103u. This is one of those better netbooks that are basically a laptop. The screen is 11.6" which is bigger than what a netbook's can be and is at a higher resolution at 1336x768. Its a 16x9 screen so thats the reason for the odd resolution. Underneath the hood we have a 1.2 GHz AMD Athalon 64 processor couped with an ATI X1270. Yea its not going to be pumping Crysis out at 60FPS but its speed really does suprises me. It has 2GB of RAM and a 250GB Harddrive, oh and its running Windows Vista Home Basic and I'm debating if I should put the new Windows 7 beta on it. Overall it is very snappy, it takes about 30-40 seconds to boot which seems pretty fast to me. I have multiple programs open at once. I even did a stress test to see how much I could do and I was suprised. I had two games of Braid running, some music from the Zune software, a video playing in WMP, and was surfing the web and it was still running pretty smooth. Now I mentioned Braid so you may ask what other games have I tried? Well nothing real crazy. I bought Braid, Peggle, Plants vs Zombies, and all of those run great

. Though I did play a little Half Life 2 and here's a screen of the details ithas me running at. Now I'm not sure about the framerate but it runs pretty smooth.

It looks really good actually. I might even say Xbox 360 quality graphics though framerate is a little different story. But thats pretty much it. The computer is dead silent and doesn't heat my room so thats good. But overall I really like it. When I first got it and was using it, it seemed pretty slow then I took Norton off and bam instant speed burst. It doesn't play HD YouTube very well since thats pretty processor dependent. I really like it and for $400 you really cant go wrong. I would of liked to get that HP DV2 but that was like $800. Ill just end up getting a beefier desktop later on anyway. The only problem I have with this laptop is the battery life. It seems very short though I do have it in full bore. If I put it on power saver it says 6 hours but its really slow, will probably use if I'm just writing a paper or something. My satisfaction could not be higher, Im very suprised by the build quality of this Gateway laptop and I'm glad Gatewayy is getting back on there feet.

E3 2009 Sony/Microsoft

Well the big E3 is back. And it seems to be back with a bunch of stuff we can't have yet.. Alot of announced stuff coming in 2010. Though Sony and Microsoft really stole the show and Nintendo um.. not so much, they did better than last year but hell anything is better than last year. So here is a run down of what was announced.

Microsoft

Some big games most come out next year but it shows there is some life still kicking in the ol' Xbox 360.

~Alan Wake was finally shown off. looks very good they definitely scaled it down a bit and looks more constricted but it looks very promising. Coming in 2010.

~Like 58 more Halo games were shown.. well maybe 2. Halo ODST was shown looks pretty neat basically just more Halo. Also a teaser was shown for the new Halo game called Halo: Breach. Not much is known about the title. ODST comes in September and Breach comes in 2010.

~ Forza 3 was shown. Probably one of the worst kept secrets. Forza will have around 500 cars, the custom tuning from Forza 2 and some better damage effects. Comes out this year on 2 discs.

~Left 4 Dead 2 was also shown. Its based in the south has 4 new people. There is new Zombies, weapons, and day time levels. Comes out this year.

~Crack Down 2 was shown and not much else is known they just showed a quick teaser trailer.

~Metal Gear: Rising was shown off and is the first Metal Gear to come to the Xbox 360. Game isn't exclusive but the trailer was only shown in Microsofts Press conference.

~ One of the bigger suprises is Splinter Cell: Conviction. UBI Soft throws out emo Sam Fisher for the bad ass that we all know and love. The games looks very good comes out this year on Xbox 360 and PC.

~ Microsoft Showed of their own motion sensing tech called Project Natal. It uses a new camera and your whole body is the controler. They showed off some neat tech demos, ones that you need about a 20ft radius around you so you dont kill anyone. This looked very neat and the fact that you can control the NXE with it makes it even better. Comes out eventually.

~Also unannounced at their press conference is the ability to buy and download full Xbox 360 games to your harddrive. Launches at end of the year with select titles.

Sony

Sony showed a very promising line up of games most of which just like Microsoft come out early next year.

~ First big thing Sony really announced is the PSP GO! The system is bringing all of the sexy, along with a bunch of AAA games.

~ Gran Turismo PSP was shown. Looks excellent. From the videos floating around you would swear its GT4. The game has 800 cars, a bunch of tracks, and the game is locked at 60FPS. Comes out October 1st along side the PSP GO!

~A new Metal Gear Solid game is coming exclusivly (for now) to the PSP. Called MGS; Peace Walker. Its directed by Kojima and it looks very good. It takes place 10 years after MGS3 and somehow fits into the MGS time line. Check it out in 2010.

~ Also shown were a bunch of other PSP games like Jak and Daxter and many others like Echo Crhomo which is a 2D Echo Chrome with some color and a new time mechanic.

~ What was also shown but not announced was Fat Princess for the PSP. If you look at the PSP video montage they show it on there playing on a PSP.

~ On a bigger note Sony showed off MAG which looks amazing. It looked very smooth, though ill hold judgement untill its in my hands. There are vehicles and air strikes which Socom really never had. MAG should be out Fall of this year.

~ Of Course Uncharted 2 was there and it looked really really good. They showed some more single player and Drake's humor is still in tact. The story looks alot more engadging and exciting. They also released the Multiplayer Beta the same day so I checked that out and its alot of fun. The multiplayer looks really good though not as good as the single player. One of the problems is that it takes the same 30 bullets to kill someone, the same as the single player in the first Uncharted so I'm used to it.

~ Sony had another suprise known as the Agent. An Exlcusive game from the GTA Team, Rock Star North. Absolutly nothing was shown but the logo. Jack did say it was set in the 70s and they expect the same fanfair GTA provides. Expect it in end of 2010 ealry 2011.

~ Gran Turismo 5 was there in trailer form and looked very good and little improved from Prologue. The game has Nascar and Rally cars involved this time around and oh yes damage is there. Take that you cheatn Nissan bastards in GT 5: Prologue online. Expect in early 2010.

~ Sony tries to 1up Nintendo with there own motion tech which uses the PS eye to detect controllers with glowing balls on the end. Looks very promising and unlike Microsoft's and Nintendo's it seems to be aimed toward more hardcore gamers. Unlike Microsofts this will come ealry next year. My guess is maybe with Heavy Rain since they seem made for each other.

~Then Sony ended its conference with a bang showing a 10minute demo of God of War 3. Which looked very good seemed to have some hit detection problems but all of that should be worked out by 2010 when its released. The demo really showed the scope of God of War 3 where there was a huge guy throwing fireballs at kratos during his battle until the end where kratos had to fight him, and thats where the demo ended. Game looks very good and I'm pretty excited for it. Especially for the rumored God of War 1 and 2 in the collectors edition.

Well that was really it with these two. Of course other big games are coming to both consoles like Assassins Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2. E3 was pretty big this year but it was alot of games that were announced for spring 2010 which is kind of a bummer. I could of included Nintendo but well just a new Metroid in 3rd person and Mario Galaxy 1 1/2 isn't exactly alot to write on.

Where the hell?

It's been awhile since I've done a post since I have been moving and having a bunch of other stuff going on. Also I didn't have internet for like 3 months which was absolutely horrible. So while I was gone there has been demos galore! My PS3 hasn't been off for 3 days. Quite a few demos were pretty good. I was very suprised by the Watchman and the Wheelman, I also thought Red Faction was pretty good loved the DTS sound. Though was very disapointed with Riddick, gonna have to check it out on the Xbox. The Red Barron and Sega Mega Collection were both suprisingly good, though I wish the Sega one was a downloadable game. The whole thing has to be under 2GB. On a side note my PS3 Harddrive is getting full again. Only have 25GBs left. So onto other news. Sony finally got their heads out of there asses and started doing stuff with the PSP which I'm very happy about and should make E3 very interesting. Also I'm really digging the Patapon 2 demo which I've gottern over 2 hours worth of play out of. I hope to get the full version here soon. In a few days I should have a review for Killzone 2 which I'm really enjoying but I played it on hard since the early levels seemed too easy. So I'm kind of regreting that. Still a good game though and should have it finished just in time for Infamous. Tomorow I'm going to buy all of the recent PSN releases like Flower, Red Barron, Burn Zombie Burn, and the Watchmen atleast. Might buy Kung Fu Fists of Plastic as well. Big month for games, not enough time or money :-( Well more in a bit with my Killzone 2 review.

Where the Games at?

So GDC is coming to a close today and where are all the games at? I'd have to say the PlayStation 3. So far 4 days of GDC and no games from Microsoft and really the Wii didn't get any new game announcements either. So why'll Microsoft is saving there upcoming games for E3, Sony revealed Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time and Tecmo showed off the sexiness that is the new and improved Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Also Sony showed off quite a few PSN games like Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic and Fat Princess. Also Sony showed off inFamous which is looking a lot better than what I saw on Xplay a few months back. I know Sony said it was the Year of the PS3 last year and well I felt it was, but this year they just have a crazy line up of games. Starting with Killzone 2, inFamous, then BattleField 1943 in the summer, Heavy Rain, Ratchet and Clank Future: ACIT, Uncharted 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, God of War 3, and possibly MAG and Gran Turismo 5. Thats one hell of a line up and thats not even counting downloadable games like Fat Princess, Punisher WarZone, and hopefully a new Siren game. I think Sony should really impress at this years E3. Though I can't wait to see what game Microsoft buys. I really hope a new PSP comes out with two analogue sticks. Sony needs to do something with it, announcing MotorStorm and the few other games was a good start!

Call of Duty: World at War Has Been Won!

I beat Call of Duty: World at War. I just got the game not even a month ago so this is why I'm just now beating it. So after Call of Duty 4 people weren't too happy that the series would return to it's Nazi killing ways. I didnt really mind since I like the WWII atmosphere. This Call of Duty is the closest to the excellence of COD2 quality wise. This game does somthing really different from the past WWII games and that is that it focuses on the grusome side of things. This game shows that it wasn't just 60million people running at each other with guns. Insted it shows people getting burned alive, people climbing trees, and people who surrender getting shot up. Like this one part I wont forget is our squad was said to take back a city. We did that and the Nazi forces retreated running to a underground bunker that is then blocked off by bars. Well lets just say a few Nazis didn't make it in time and were stuck in the stairway. Our squad (6 people) then surrounded the stairway and we all through a grenade down towards them. Stuff like this happens all of the time in the game and I like that they took the game this way. Now for the gameplay, this game is COD4, every gun can pretty much be matched up with a gun in COD4. Even the single players story follows a similar plot line as COD4. Basically what I'm saying is

if you liked COD4 you'll like Call of Duty: World at War. The multiplayer is still the same as COD4, you get the perks and all of the other stuff. As far as I can tell there the same perks. So in the picture to the right you have the old claymore vs the new bouncing betty. This picture show how well you can see it. As you can see the bouncing betty is nearly immposible to see especially against brown colored surroundings. with the claymore atleast you could see the red ray around the corner. With the bouncing betty you can't see anything. Another thing that I find funny about Infinity Ward VS Trearch is IW favors the M1 Garand and TA favors the Kar 98 as in its stronger in there own game. So I played this game on the PS3 it has a install of 60MB so basically nothing. The game runs in 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. Doesnt supprt DTS :-( though the sound is very good and lives up to the COD standard. The Multiplayer supports up to 18. The game also has online co-op where you kill nazis with up to 3 friends plus after that you can kill them again in Zombie form which is hella fun! The downside, the multiplayer is a little broken. Its hard to get a party together, if host leaves, the game ends just like in COD4. For any game this gen that is horrible and I hope IW fixs that in COD6. The game is alot of fun really worth the $60 though it is more of the same. So if you are really tired of COD4 you might want to wait to pick this one up. It sucks Treyarch isn't fixing the problems with the multiplayer, but hey what can you do? Also here is a comparison of the two games.

Three Months of Seven

So it has been 3 months since I first installed the Windows 7 beta. Really it was just to see what all of the buzz was about. I didn't think Windows Vista was was bad at all. Yea it didn't run real well on older hardware but hey you can't expect everything to work on everything forever. So right now the laptop I'm using is a shit ass Compaq. It came with Windows Vista Home Basic and 512MB of ram. Since then I upgraded it to 2Gb of ram and that really helped out a lot and made Vista very able on this little computer. The laptop has a Intel Celeron M at 1.6Ghz. Its basically a netbook but fucking huge and blows out scalding heat. So as I first downloaded Windows 7 I was going to install it on a separate partition but that wasn't working so well. So I just installed Windows 7 right over Vista. At first I was extremely nervous, I have only done this once and that was from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 plus I had some help, so I really wasn't sure what to expect. But like every other program you just hit install and OK 20 times till you see a progress bar ^_^ At first it was horrible all of these programs weren't working, my Zune wouldn't Sync, all of my Music was gone and I was pretty pissed. But Win7 fixed it all on its own except the Zune thing, which I had to run it as administrator and it was fixed. Then overall the benefits of Win7 kicked in. The computer was faster, I could run more than 2 things at once, it didn't take 4 minutes to boot up, it was fantastic. Now this really gets me thinking with Mac users still saying Win7 is worse than OSX, then OSX has to be really fucking good. There is no way I can think of to really improve Win7. Now I'm going to show some of my favorite improvements here.

The Zune TTwist Interface by ME

When you turn on the touch based Zune you get a menu similar to the one now. For now these are all in landscape since when its vertical its the same as the original twist interface. As you can see here when you click music you music pops up split screen style. This way its possible to access your other media without pressing back 20 times and plus its similer to the Zune software.

When you touch a song and play it you get the now playing screen which shows the large album art the Zune is acustomed to. On the right and left you have a back, next buttons, and when your playing music a visualiser shows up. I think a customizable ray like whats on the zune software would probably be better.

So how about when you want to buy new Music or download new podcasts? Well you enter the Zune Mobile Marketplace. As you start out its the same as on the PC, you get to see the top songs recomended to you along with channels and friends. As you slide over you enter the music part.
As you can see its basically the same as the PC software. You got the Artist of the week along with whatever else they want to fuddle at you, plus it shows top Songs, albums, and new releases. Im not going to show podcasts since its the same deal.

So as Microsoft said, they want to intergrate the Zune with Xbox live more. So why not allow the Zune to access the Xbox Live Marketplace to download Demos and Videos to you Xbox 360 from anywhere in the world.

As you can see we have the Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage DLC. You can choose to download it to your Xbox 360, watch a trailer of it right there, or view screen shots right from the device. I think this would be a very smart way to intergrate the Xbox 360 and the Zune device. Along with the marketplace you can go to social on the main Zune screen and view your friends in the Social along with your Xbox Live friends.

Here you can see who is on. You can change between only online or all. It shows what game there playing and what there status is. When you click there name, lets say biggles then you see this screen.
This screen allows you to see there Avatar, gamerscore, what there playing, and you can send them a message.

This TTwist interface which stands for Touch Twist, allows you to nearly have the full Xbox and Zune experience anywhere you go. Right in the palm of your hand.

Mirrors Edge Has been Won!

Adding to my reviews I didn't get to, is Mirrors Edge. I've been really excited for this game since it was announced. I loved the art style, I love Dice, and I love the first person view. So basically it was a certified winner in my mind even before it came out. I wish this game would of did better so EA can do more sequals and so maybe Namco could bring back Breakdown which was another first person action game that didnt sell very well even though it was an amazing game. Like Breakdown, Mirrors Edge is an amazing game that everyone should experiance. I feel the game didn't sell so well since everyone knew it was a short game and when they could pick good games like Fallout 3 or even Resistance 2 for the same price with plenty more game play. Though its a shame that its so short (8 hours) it really would of been more of the same just dragged out another 5 hours, if they extended it. So before I get into the review I wanted to talk about the specs of the game first since this is important to some people. Mirrors Edge runs on a heavily modified version of the Unreal 3 engine and looks great even on the PS3 which I played it on. The games doesnt support DTS which is a bummer since the last few EA games supported that on the PS3. Its only 720p so once again you 1080i only players are left out on the PS3 version. So the game has a very forgettable story, you have to find who set up your sister and a few other things that would spoil it. Though the story is weak its told through very unique looking cut scenes between chapters. The game runs very smooth even though a few parts in later levels you will stop right in the middle of gameplay to load which is pretty ridiculous. On the PS3 version there is a install but its like 500MB so its not the worst. There aren't many jaggies and no texture pop-in which is a HUGE plus in my book. One of the things I really like are the controls, which are very unique. You use the shoulder buttons for all of the important stuff like jumping and ducking, etc... The game is very immersive and you'll find your-self playing it for hours. If your afraid of hights you might not enjoy this game all that much. One part in the game you have to jump from a zipline to another zipline in mid-air off of two skyscrapers and my stomach just dropped, I was shaking from a videogame knowing if I don't time this right I will plumit to my death. Somthing this game does that many others try but don't succeed in is the feeling you get when getting chased. Though no game will really get it right since in real life if you get caught your dead, there are no do-overs. So unless a game is you die and you have to start all the way over, you won't feel the complete need to survive. When you finish the game you really feel like you did what you needed to do and thats it. If this wasn't from EA I wouldn't think there would be a sequal since it didn't sell real well and they didn't leave you on some dramatic cliff hanger. I would say buy this game now at the full $60 just to support Dice and the support of original IPs but really the game is perfect for a $40 price tag.

Resistance 2 Has been Won!

I beat Resistance 2 in the begining of January and just haven't got around to reviewing it. Resistance 2 picks up right where the first one left off but like 90% of other shooters the story isn't a big deal and for the most part uninteresting. Resistance 2 seems to be stuck in the past where you are on a very strict path and you really can't do anything any other way than what they want you to. Which isn't too bad but it would be nice for them to have a few paths even if they all merge into the same area. The biggest difference between this and the first one is the scope of the game. Everything is ginormous when there is a big monster chacing you or one just attacking your whole squad you really feel like if I stop shooting or running that big bastard is going to tear you up. Before I get real in depth I'm going to talk about some specs. The game runs in 720p there is no other option so no love for you 1080i only people. The sound is pretty amazing and incorprates DTS surround sound which I think should be the standard with all PS3 games. And don't forget the multiplayer! 30vs30 deathmatches, 8 man co-ops, and many other objective based stuff like capture the flag. The co-op isn't really co-op and its kinda sad because it would of been fun to run around the single player with 7 friends. The co-op is basically defeat all of these people and press a switch or destroy some thing and watch out behind you because people are coming and basically repeat this a few times per level. It may sound boring but is very team oriented and is a lot of fun to play with some friends or even complete strangers. It has a Call of Dutyish level system in the co-op where you get upgrades and some power ups like hold more ammo, give more health, etc.. All parts multiplayer to this game is buttery smooth even in the bigger 60 player matches and in co-op you could have up to probably 80 or so enemys on the screen at one time. Its insanity, its a lot of fun, and its completly lag free! Back to the sinle player. The game starts out extremely slow and they make Nathan Hale sound like such shit and a wannabe bad ass. Pretty much for 30-40% of the game is run into this room and hold off the chimera untill there all dead and really any shooting game where you run out of ammo after every fight is pretty much shit to me but luckily the game returns to its roots towards the end and makes me love it again. The game makes such a right turn in the later half of the game and makes it really engadging and Insomniac does some pretty neat things. This isn't really a spoiler but at one part you have to run from these crazy ass bee things. You cant kill them and they kill you instantly! But when your getting chased the sound getting louder behind you as you haul mad ass towards the door is crazy and when you notice your out of breath from a videogame it shows they did there job at immersing you into the experence. Plus the ending is probably the biggest "holy fuck" in a video game. I wouldn't say Resistance 2 is as good as it could of been and I feel there taking it the route of the Ratchet and Clank games on PS2, where they add just so much stuff they take away from what made it great but we'll see what happens for the next one. Overall fun game and is really worth the $60 being the single player is around 12-15 hours and the multiplayer is endless fun.

This post isn't about food. Its about all of the stuff I haven't posted about rolled into one post. So the big thing a wrote a post about but I never posted was my game of the year award. I felt I didn't really play enough of the games released to say which was the best, but the more I thought about it I decided Metal Gear Solid 4 is my Game of the Year. Since this game is pretty much my favorite of all time I don't think any other game could top it this year or in a really good while so I felt I could make a definate decision on that. I also figure that is was a year for games that start off slow. Resistance 2, Fallout 3, and Fable are a few games that are very good that start off pretty slow but pick up as you go along (I knew of other games but I had a brain fart :-/ and I cant remember) I would say if MGS4 didn't come out this year Mirrors Edge would of got my Game of the Year. I think there were a few flops through the year mainly toward the end of the year like: PlayStation Home, it is not a flop for Sony since they made over a million dollars in it but if it wasn't for me being in the beta I would of been probably a little more unsatisfied. Next is Little Big Planet, it has a lot of potential but its plagued by long loading times and I find it hard to make some things that should be easy to make. Maybe I need to spend more time with it. The next two are Microsoft related and I guess you can't really consider one of them a flop but it pretty much was, I would say the NXE and Gears of War 2 were flops. The NXE adds much eye candy but it is even harder to find things and there are sub menus galore plus its not even up to the XMB yet which still stands as UI king! Gears of War by sales can't be considered a flop by any means but the number of people playing it and the lack of Game of the Year awards is probably not how Epic wanted it to be. It shows Microsoft pressured them to get it out to compete with the PS3 onslought that would of occured if it wasn't there. I believe I bought 29(?) games this year 2 on the 360, 23 on the PS3, 1 on the Wii, 1 on the DS, and 2 on the PSP. I think all of the games I bought on the PS3 were released in 2008, 1 360 game in 2008, and 1 PSP and 1 DS in 2008. I hope to get more 360 games and a few PSP game and hopefully I can add the PC to this list by next year. A few things I look forward to in 2009 are Windows 7 (love the beta), maybe a new PSP, the slew of games, and I really hope the 1UP guys and the many developers that got fired/layed off find new and better jobs here soon!

Zune Leaving the Soical?

Well CES is about over and something during the Microsoft Press Conference really caught my eye. I thought that this would be the time where they announced some cool new kick ass Zune features but basically all they did was ackknowledge that the Zune existed. In the press conference Steve Ballmer said how software was becoming a main focus and how the market for dedicated portable media players is declining.. So either there planning on a iPod Touch competitor or there talking about forgetting the Zune, which I hope not since all of my music will probably go bye bye. I guess we'll find out here soon since the spring update is coming soon.

Over the past few months I've been looking for a computer perferibly a laptop but I wasn't ruling out a desktop and a netbook. So for awhile I was stuck on a Macbook which is an amazing laptop but, I started thinking how my life pretty much revolves around Windows. With my Xbox 360, Ps3, Zune, etc.... it wouldn't of made much sense to switch to a Mac as in it wouldn't of been cost feasible since I would be in Windows probably just as much if not more than OSX. So then I switched to a Dell XPS One which is the equivilant to a Macbook Pro plus it had a TV tuner among other things that I liked a lot and it came with a Dell Mini 9 for $100. Then they stopped the deal with the Mini 9 and it was kind of a no deal. Then HP/Voodoo droped a bombshell, a desktop that is sleek, sexy, powerful, and wouldn't cost as much as a DaeWoo. As you may know I'm talking about the HP Firebird 003 with Voodoo DNA. Costing only $2100 for the top configuration sans monitor :-( but still a good deal non the less and I wouldn't need a small power plant in my basement to run it. I think this is the first time I actually could tell where a company was coming from on one of there products, Rahul Sood is right gaming PCs have gone crazy, I mean having four graphics cards and hell even two processors is crazy especially when you get into the killowatt range. With the Black Bird and the Voodoo Omen going missing it shows Voodoo/HP is going into a different direction. Thus the sexy Firebird was born. Since the Engadget leak that showed off the Firebird I really couldn't stop thinking of it, it was exactly what I wanted. The Sexyness of a Mac (even sexier) with the convienance of Windows. I really felt kind of bad when engadget spoiled it since this would of been one hell of a nice CES suprise! Though enough was concealed to keep me eager till CES to find out more. So back to the plan. I'm going to get a Firebird 003, not just because I like the machine its self but I like Voodoo's community, I find it amazing that Rahul Sood is out browsing blogs answering questions on their products when he really could be saying "hey go fuck yourslef" or not say anything at all. Anyway the monitor I'm going to get is a Acer P244wbii. It's one of Acer's top monitors, it's a 24" 16:9 HDCP display which will play nicely with the Blu-Ray drive packed into the Firebird. Oh and of course at 1080p resolution. I think its a good choice it has a 2ms response time which is good for gaming and has two HDMI inputs and includes one HDMI cable for simple hook up to the Firebird. The monitor is just a tad over $300 which is around what I want to spend. Next up is the speakers

and I wanted some that would take advantage of the

intergrated Sound Blaster X-Fi card but the few I want are out of the price range I want to spend on speakers at the moment. Not that Im settling with these since they are good speakers they just

weren't my first choice. Since Creative makes the Sound Blaster card I thought it would be a good idea to check with them first and since I don't want 5.1 speakers at the moment, the Creative

GigaWorks T40s seem like a very good option. I like that you can control the bass and trebble right from the speakers its self. Since my surround sound I have likes to be extra bassy, I like to have control over it. I think thats it that goes with the Firebird. All of this is right around $2500 but even with all of this it doesnt solve the problem of not having a laptop. So with that I'm going to keep it in the HP family and get the Mini 1000 Mi series

which is one of the best netbooks out right now. It runs a HP made shell over Linux which I can live with till Windows 7 comes out. I'm going to get it fully loaded 2GB of RAM, 10" screen, but I'm going with the 16GB SSD drive since there are no moving parts and I will upgrade it later on if it becomes a issue. So there it is, the plan for the perfect combo, a powerful desktop a great laptop all under $3,000.

Zune Conept

As a big fan of the Zune, I can't wait untill they come out with an iPod Touch competitor.So I made up a concept of what I would like it to look like. So here it is..

So here it is. It is a similar design to the iPod Touch but with the Zune flair. These are basically pictures of the UI up top is what it looks like in vertical mode. and below is what it looks like in horizontal mode.. I think it looks nice and is basically what I would want out of the Touch Zune.

Out of the top 10 PS3 games 4 of them are exclusive. Little Big Planet continues to be loved by the media yet it's still being ignored. There is no way a game like Metal Gear Solid 4 should be in 3rd. It was a perfect game, it had the multiplayer and it had the single player. The graphics are amazing and so is the gameplay. I would of liked to see Resistance 2 a little higher but then again I haven't played it and GTA4 still baffles me.

**Sorry it took so long....

So Home is here. What PlayStation fans have been waiting for, for some reason people think this is the answer to Xbox's better Live service. Well... its not and I'm not sure why people thought it would be. Home is a gathering of people, which you go around and do things together. I'm not sure how or even why people think this was supposed to be Xbox Live for the PS3. If you look at both online services there really even in terms of features. The only things misssing is in game chat and cross game invites. In my eyes that doesn't justify $50 a year. So what does Sony need to do to make Home the killer app it's hyped up to be? One thing that really bugs me in Home is that you have to load every area and there not exactly short load times. What would be cool is if they kept 2 places loaded like if the main square was always loaded and from where ever you came that would be loaded untill you went elsewhere. One of the big pushes in Home is the community. You meet up with friends, meet new people and everyone is happy but there isn't enough to do at this time. What they need to do is put real movies in the movie theatre, say the Dark Knight starts at 7pm have people pay $2 and sync it up with everyone's connection so it goes up at the same pace. The same could be said about your house get the TVs in there and allow us to play our movies and maybe be able to stream big sporting events or even PPV events so we can have a party with friends at our house. If Sony would do that and say oh you need to buy a club for your friends to come over and view events like that I guarentee Sony will get $5 from a lot of people! How about letting people buy arcade machines to put in there house which keeps the local high scores, so when your friends come over they can try to beat your score just like in real life.. Really all Sony needs to make Home better is more of everything and to deliver all of the things they have atleast have shown so far.. but really Home could of been much worse than what it is for something this big I mean the whole network could of went down.. =)

The NPDs went with the Wii in first, the DS in second, Xbox 360 in third, and the PSP, PS3, and PS2 take up the rear. From these results it shows Sony desperatly needs a price cut on the PS3 even though the PS2 and PSP are profitable Sony still can't be breaking even.. I'm thinking a $299 PlayStation 3 with 40GB hard drive, no games no anything and maybe a 80GB PS3 with a Headset and HD cables for $399. I don't know if Sony should do this before or after Killzone 2 and Infamous but they would definatly sell more before those big games come out. Sony has done pretty good with games with all of there big releases topping a million units sold, but it should be more! Each of those big games should be atleast 2 to 3 million units sold. For me I think peole need to experience the PlayStation 3. There is something about the games (exclusives) that makes them so much better, I dont know what it is but they feel different. I'm not ragging on the Xbox cause I used to be a 360 fanboy, but with there DRM, shaddy hardware, and $50 a year they forced me to be a PS3 fanboy. Really I feel bad for the 360 fans that think Xbox Live is worth it and live year to year playing Gears and Halo. I love my Xbox but I just love my PS3 more.. and the Wii well thats the kid that parents stick into the microwave..

Zune Mr. 10,000; 8 Months later...

Here we are 8 months from when I first got my Zune. My Zune has experienced about 4 drops, one of them being in the toilet. So my Zune has brought me much enjoyment, I have supprased the 10,000 songs played mark and have 15 badges which just recently became permanent. On my Zune right now I have 591 songs, 55 pictures, and 12 videos (mainly The Office <3) all of this content eats up 6.48GB and gives me 930Mb left. Through all of this my Zune has one (1) scratch with no case after 8 months, plus my play/pause button doesn't work thanks to the water and the toilets joint effort. So back to the achievement, 10,000 plays... at and average of 4 minutes a song thats 40,000 minutes! 667 hours! Hell thats longer than I wait for my laptop to boot up. Thats 28 days of music non stop! Thats listening to every song around 6 times over. After 8 months I still love my Zune and if the play/pause button still worked I wouldnt be in such a hurry to trade it up for a shinier 120GB Zune. With the Zune pass which lets you keep 10 songs a month they pretty much have me forever and I really dont mind! Here's to 10,000 more! Keep it up Zune team!

The Everyday Shooter is now the Everywhere Shooter

About an hour ago Sony pumped out a few games for the PSP in this Thursday Update and amongst them was Everyday Shooter. Being one of my favorite PS3 games I gladly and excitingly bought it. For $10 I wouldn't say its an absolute steal considering I got the PS3 one for $5 when it first launched (sale) but I'm still happy with my purchase. If your not familier with Everyday Shooter then shame on you. Just kidding but it is a dual stick shooter that was eagerly awaited by Playstation fans as it was a breath of fresh air during the drought of games after the PS3's launch. What was even more amazing is it is made by one guy Jonathon Mac during that time developers with 60 man teams couldn't make a PS3 game so this was kinda amazing. The game to me would seem very demanding to even think about putting on the PSP, with the backgrounds shifting, all of the text on screen, and all of the enemies, it would seem like a difficult job to do without changing the game dramatically. Amaingly they ported the whole PS3 game it has the same graphics to a extent, same sounds, same everything, this is Everyday Shooter on the PSP! What I'm still trying to figure out is why the game is almost double the size of the PS3 version? Anyway the game runs great and you may ask how does a dual stick shooter work on the PSP? Well its simple unlike other dual stick shooters (Stardust, Geometry Wars) it doesnt have a full 360 degrees of shooting it think like a compass like this picture>> This is the same as on the PS3 (Jon likes to play the game with face buttons) so it was a perfect fit. Overall I'm still getting used to it but I did beat my PS3 high score already but I didnt get as far level wise. I think Sony is going to be porting or doing side quests of a lot of PS3 games to PSP this coming year. With the rumor of Jak and Daxter, I wouldnt be suprised if they have a Motorstorm or Heavenly Sword. I always thought Heavenly Sword would be a good fit since it doesnt use the right stick or the R2 and L2 buttons. So I guess we'll see, Sony did say '09 would be the year of the PSP. So I'm off to play more Everyday Shooter!

The best looking trailer is the best looking game

Well I'm sure you have seen the amazing Uncharted 2 preview trailer but did you know that it was shot in real time? For a trailer that looks so amazing I would have to call bull but I recently went back to the first Uncharted and I'm still amazed on how good it looks. So if anyone can pull of a game that looks this good its Naughty Dog. Really I'm sorry to have to say but I think the Xbox 360 is showing its age and the PS3 is starting to shine. I'm not going to lie Gears of War 1 and 2 look amazing but they don't look as good as Metal Gear or Uncharted. So we will see some game play on the 14th exclusively on Spike TV!

PSP Champion

Since I haven't been able to get a hold of any new games latley I went back into the good ol' PSP library. Out of the 27 or so PSP games I have, only 5 haven't been beatn. Well mark that down to two games! I beat Socom Fireteam Bravo 1 and 2 and I beat Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. All three were excellent games. None of which are good games to play outside of the house. Socom doesnt have any save checkpoints and some missions take a good 15-20minutes. Gran Theft Auto is Grand Theft Auto, it still takes 10 min or so to get across the whole city and some missions take a long time! Overall all three are fantastic games! The graphics in each of them are something the Sega Dreamcast would be proud of. I think I'm going to do a review for GTA cause it was such an amazing game. Look for that some time soon.

The Most Beautiful is So Far Away

You may or may not remember the Voodoo Omen but it is finally here! At a price that costs enough to buy two (2) (1+1) TWO! well built Hp Blackbirds. Thats right the Voodoo Omen STARTS AT $10,000! Now to give you a little back story on Voodoo, they are a company that builds very high end computers and recently they were bought by HP and they built the Hp Blackbird 002 with Voodoo DNA. Almost a year later Voodoo burns down there site and shows off the Brand new Omen and Envy, some of the most beautiful and stunning computers you will ever see. Voodoo PCs are hand built in Canada and they are well know for their custom paint jobs which are around $300 and up. The sad part is the Omen when announced was very high end but now with the Intel Core I7 finally coming out and the fact that the I7 uses a completely new socket so even if you wanted to swap them out you wouldn't be able to. Don't get me wrong the Omen is still very powerful and very beautiful but for $10,000 I expect it to be liquid cooled and to have the newest and best technology available.

The NXE: Some Impressions

The NXE has been here for a whole week. I've started to get used to it. First of all the NXE is screaming fast as soon as your Xbox does its thing your signed into Xbox Live. Under Cover Home

So as you may of heard PlayStation Home has finally hit version 1.0 for the Beta testers. I've always known Sony was making Home to make money but I didnt think they were going to go this far. So as I updated and went through to the avatar creator which I had to recreate my avatar which was rediculous but I said hey I wont have to do this again so its no big deal. I notice there are a lot of hairstyles missing including the one i used to use, which was pretty much a combed down style which how my hair actually is. So i had to settle with a spikier version. I then proceded to the cloths which a good decent amount of were missing. Now I had to go to the colors for my person, there was midnight black, brown, a mexicanish, and blinding white! So I settled for mexicanish and now the guy that is supposed to look like me is a chubby mexican with black spikey hair. Atleast they had my hair color. Now this has me worried, does this mean there going to do more updates and add those styles back or are they going to charge out the ass for them? I think the later. So as my mexican counterpart I went and checked out everything, they stilled had the same videos up, they took all of the items out of the mall, and atleast the arcade and bowling alley are much better! Also the Uncharted and Farcry 2 areas are gone. Something I really hate is they took out the virtual PSP for some screen thing with speakers on it that has 8 font. If you put the now Home against the NXE Home looses in every category! I know Home isn't even out yet but they need to get there act together and stick to what even got them this far; make a lot of it free!

Birthdays and Deaths: The Circle of Life..

Well its this time of year again. The Xbox 360 turns 3, the Nintendo Wii and Sony's Playstation 3 both turn 2 years old this month! It has been a great year for gamers alike even if your just dedicated to one sytem (wii?) with huge multiplatform blockbusters such as Grand Theft Auto 4, Mirrors Edge, Fallout 3, and Dead Space, this was a year for the gamers. Also BIG name exclusives finally came out such as Metal Gear Solid: 4, Fable 2, Resistance 2, Gears of War 2, Little Big Planet, and Banjo and Kazooie. Both the 360 and PS3 got significant and much needed upgrades such as in game XMB and the NXE. Its been a great year and I'm sure next year will be even better and hopefully I can include the Wii in this article next year!

On the bad side which isn't really related to this, My Zune has went toward the light up in the sky then I pulled it back... My Zune fell into the toilet many electronics final resting place but my Zune wasnt one of them. Immediately I pulled it out and turned it off. My Zune was still playing the song while deep in the toilet. I let dry all day while I was at school, came home and it turned on first I thought the battery was messed, like charging in 10min then immediatly going to low battery. So i let it charge over night and the next day it was fine basically like a new Zune. There was no waterdamage or anything but something had to break to piss me off and it did the play/ pause button stopped working. This button turns the Zune on and puts it into sleep mode and of course it pauses. So I did some research for replacement parts go figure this part is the most expensive since you have to buy like half of a Zune. I may get it but I'm not sure yet. Though I give mad props to the Zune guys for making a tough and kick ass device!

Also Microsoft didn't let me in the NXE preview program even though I signed up. Today they let everyone who signed up get the NXE update a day early but NOT ME!! FUCKERS!!

More Beta!

The Resistance 2 beta started yesterday for the Qore members and boy is it a big one(over 2GB)! The beta has 3 online multiplayer maps and a few single player levels for online co-op. The beta is buttery smooth with up to 60 player matches this is mighty impressive. I think they should get a cookie or something for for having a game (beta) that looks better and plays smoother than the actual release of Socom! Overall very good and is a must buy for anyone that is a fan of shooters! Resistance 2 comes out November 4th so the beta will last probably till the end of the month!

Zune 3.0!

This morning the Zune was updated to version 3.0. Like the Xbox 360 the Zune team keeps the updates to two times a year. This update includes the ability to download/stream music from the device its self and among many other things. The streaming is something that you can only do when you have a Zune Pass. Overall the update went very smooth I had some problems when I was downloading it this morning since the servers weren't all the way back online yet but seemed to be a lot smoother of an experience than what thaat fruit company was having. I noticed the software is a lot more resource hungry mainly processor hungry using around 60% of the processor and when using Vista that doesnt leave much left for anything else! Some people I seen on engadget and some other sites say there Zune gets stuck somewhere while its syncing for a long time. The best thing to do is let it sync overnight you can stop the sync while its stuck and continue later so its really not a big deal. Overall very cool stuff I also got a Zune Pass so I could stream music and whatever else I feel like doing so say good bye to Limewire for hopefully a really long time, really I dont like doing that and when you buy music you feel a lot better about your self so self-esteem +2! Here soon I'll post some pictures of the software and say whats changed but, remember people this update is free and works with every single Zune device out there so make sure to grab it! My New Top 10!

Since I changed everything on my top 10 I thought I would go over them, explain them a little bit and say why I like them blah blah blah. So here we go!

#1 on my list now is the Sony Vaio Z. It is a 13.1" powerhouse! It can pack up to a 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Blu-ray drive, 64 or 128GB SSD, dedicated graphics from Nvidia along with Intel's integrated for better battery life. All of this weighs less than 4lbs and is less than 1.3" thick and with the battery supposedly up to 6 hours it seems like the best portable laptop out there!

Next up is the Sony Vaio RT. This is a new all in one by Sony that is very powerful. This thing packs a 25.5" LCD, Intel Core 2 Quad Core processor, 6GB of RAM (DDR2), 1TB hard drive, built in TV tuner, Blu-ray read/write drive. All of this doesn't come cheap at $4,000 but hell thats sure one nice looking powerful machine! The reason I picked this and the Vaio Z is because I've started to take a interest in photography and video as you'll see in the next few items down. So I figured that I needed something with a lot of room and power to edit those pictures and HD movies.

No matter what goes on with computers or cameras I will always be a gamer at heart so why not have the best? The 55" Sony Bravia XBR8 is Sony's new flagship TV which isn't out yet but is better than last years XBR5. The XBR5 is one of the best LCD TVs out there right now and the XBR8 should be no exception. Coming in at a whopping $7,000 it better be good! It of course supports 1080p over HDMI and Component so my HDMI-less Xbox 360 will be happy. This TV also has all of the frills for a TV thses days like: 120Hz motion flow, 4 HDMI inputs, DLNA capable, a 10bit panel, and a 1 million to 1 contrast ratio. I'm sure the new Triluminos RGB LED backlighting will help this be one of the best looking TVs this year!

At # 4 and 5 the Sony Alpha and the Handycam HDR-CX12. Since I would really like to start getting into photography I would need a good camera that takes good pictures but is easy to use and from everything I read the Sony Alpha series is just that! The one I was looking at comes in at around $700 which comes with a additional lens, supports up to 3200 ISO, 2FPS burst shot not as good as the 5FPS which the new one coming out has but I dont know. I really dont know much about cameras but based on what I know, it sounds like a good choice! Now something I know a little more about which is video. The Sony Handycam records full 1920x1080 video to a memory stick duo. I picked this one over the extremely small HDR-TG1 because this records double the amount of pixels some how. Anyway this records in AVCHD, 2.7" touch panel display, records in 5.1 surround sound and comes with super steady shot to get rid of those shaky shots.

#6 Like I said earlier, I will always be a gamer at heart and the HP Blackbird is one of the most powerful gaming desktops out there today. Some people ask why buy when you can build for half the price? Well first of all its not half the price and second if I'm going to be spending around $4,000 on parts and what not I want it to be done right! I have confidence in myself but not $4,000 worth. The Blackbird was made in partnership with the Voodoo guys to make a high performance and great looking machine that was made for gamers and it succeeds cranking out 105 FPS in COD4 in 1920x1200 on Very high! The blackbird packs some serious firepower with a Intel Core2 Extreme processor QX9770, 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, and 2 GTX 280s in SLI. Yea don't expect your electric bill to be cheap after playing a few hours of Crysis. Oh yea! The price up around the $7000 mark!

#7. This Denon receiver can brings the noise with 140watts per channel spread across 7 channels and a subwoofer. Has all sorts of inputs like: 4 HDMI inputs, 7 composite inputs, 7 S-Video inputs, 3 component inputs, and 4 optical inputs/3 coaxial inputs! All of this weighs in at 41LBS! Though it does support every sound mode you can think of like: Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Digital True HD, DTS HD, along with you pro logics and DTS ES everything that you would want. It also upscales everything upto 1080p and costs almost $3,000.

#8 I want a new PSP but I've wrote about that a few times so.. yea!

#9 I need some new speakers to go with that Denon so here we go. I picked the Cambridge Soundworks Newton HD series. These are very skinny speakers so they mount some what flush with your LCD tv. They have some good reviews and would of liked to get some KEF or Bowers and Wilkins speakers but those are hard to come by. So lets just say movies should sound good with 7 of these pointed at you along with that subwoofer!

#10. Ok I have a Zune I love my Zune but just look at that Cowon S9! I'm sure it will be like $500 but it is just gorgeous! The Cowon is a MP3 player with a 500MHz dual core processor with a 3.3" Amoled display, has bluetooth, Tv out, and a FM radio. It is just so good looking and easily beats anything Apple has to offer both visually and sound quality wise. I cant wait for it to hit the states!

So there it is my 10 most wanted things and its not a shopping list I will probably not get any of these things besides a PSP or the Cowon since everything added together is around the $20k mark but hell I can dream right?

New Zunes! New iPods! Sad Faces!

So new Zunes lastnight, new iPods today, end of the world tommorrow. I'm going to talk about the new Zunes first. The new Zunes are exactly the same except some size bumps, some (un needed) gloss and the back of the 120GB is now black. The flash Zune comes in Black, Red, and Blue. So far the blue one is only believed to be 16GB and the Zune 80 is now 120GB same $250 price point but enough with the boring stuff. The real magic is the new firmware! This new update goes out to every single Zune owner for free (Apple lol)! It brings the store to the Zune so you can buy, stream, and download music right on your Zune and yes Zune Pass works with it too! It also allows you to tag songs on the built in radio and you can download them right on the device or wait till you get home. The Zune also now comes with 2 free games Texas hold em' and Hexic. Now the software you get some new things called channels and personal picks. Channels are like the top 100 or best workout songs and if you have a Zune Pass there free. Personal picks is when the software will pick songs that you may like based on what you listen to. So if you listen to say Toby Kieth they will show you Tim McGraw or something like that. Lets say I will probably get a Zune pass here soon.

No Gloss but it sure looks like a Zune. I do like the mate finish more!

Now for the new iPods. I think there trying to let the Zune catch up. I mean there isn't much to say they have the new Nanos ^, the iPod Classic is the same just 120GB and they dropped the price on the iPod Touch the 32GB one is no longer more expensive than a car and is only $400 now. Oh and there is a new update for owners of the iPhone and iPod Touch but the iPod Touch one will cost you 10 bones yay $10 to fix there problems YAY! Other than that I say Fail for the Apple Event. The biggest thing probably is that iTunes now allows you to purchase HD TV shows ($2.99) along with NBC coming back. I'm sure the Zune will do that soon with the 360 being able to stream HD and all.

Really overall neither of them were very good updates but the Zune wins out with the free updates. Oh and to everyone that says the Zune is Fugly! Have fun with the 3" thick case you need to have your iPod not explode.

New Toy

Well my phone died today and it was LG VX9800 which was the EnV before it was called the EnV as pictured to the right. SO I got a new phone the EnV2 which is a lot thinner and is a lot better looking but I no longer think I will be throwing my phone when I get angry. Overall I like it more it takes some time getting used to but at some point you have to ask when is thin too thin? The phone is hard to hold onto when you put it between your shoulder and cheek. Also the phone has 3g built in I noticed the instant messaging is alot faster and so is downloading pictures.

The Beta Month Continues Socom Style!

Yep another beta. Two down one to go! Today I downloaded the Socom: Confrontation Beta (Thanks Killwise) and its fantastic maybe better than 2? Overall the game looks good and honestly the characters look as good as in that picture the enviroments are kinda bland but Socom has never been a graphical powerhouse. One thing I love is the sound! Absolutley amazing! Also the SIXAXIS to lean actually works great! Alot better than expected. So off to play some more!! Its going to be a busy weekend!

Well Microsofts attack on Wii has begun! With the arcade coming down to $200, Premium $299, and Elite at $399. The Elite is still overpriced but atleast they give people options. Also cant wait to make a Mii I mean Avatar. In the other lack of news the Xbox Live starter pack wasnt announced (60GB HDD, headset, etc...) So I hope it comes I need a new harddrive hopefully before the fall update. I wouldn't mind playing Bioshock with loading times under 45seconds.

Ok time to be sensible. I got it downloaded and after everything is all said and done the download is around 100-200MB. I really like it and say Sony should try and market this as much as they can. The environments are very nice looking and very good sounding and plus the atmosphere is amazing everyone was getting along there was no "You Suck", "Dumb Jew" or anything like that it was a good time. Also the Last Guy Music is great to disco to!!

So i was messing around with my Zune software and found a hack that lets you use a custom background and I must say it looks absolutely stunning. I love my Zune and even like the software. Around Tuesday night my dog knocked over my sub woofer which I had my Zune docked on and now has a small scratch on the screen and its extremely annoying! I can see it everywhere. Now today my Zune seems to be messing up its getting really hot and the usually slick interface is bogging down and gives me a :-( face. So maybe ill send it in get it fixed and hopefully get a different one without a scratched screen.

Sony's Leipzig Announcements

Yesterday Sony announced a few things in the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany. So here are some of the highlights.

Probably the biggest thing Sony announced was a new PSP 3001. Nothing crazy new that is a must have feature but some nice additions like a built in mic, a enhanced screen with better colors, higher contrast, and is less reflective outside. Everything for the same price as the 2000 series. Sony also announced new bundles like a Ratchet and Clank: Size matters one which includes that game, National Treasure 2 on UMD, a silver PSP, 1GB MemoryStick, and thats not all a voucher to download Echocrhome from the Playstation Store all for $200! The other bundle includes a a Piano Black PSP with a 4GB MemoryStick and a voucher to download the newly announced coming to PSP game Everyday Shooter, One of my favorite PSN games, the bundle costs $200.
Then the usual Core which just includes a Black PSP for $169.

I'm going to combine these two things.
Next something less exciting a 160GB PS3 shipping for $499 comes with the excellent game Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and a voucher to download Pain from the Playstation Store. Sony hasn't said if this will have all of the goodies like memory card readers and software backwards compatibility but I guess we'll find out this and the new PSP come out around October. Also Sony announced a new keyboard that attaches to the PS3 controller. The keyboard works with both the Dualshock and the Sixaxis and sits atop the R1 and L1 buttons. The keyboard looks pretty cool includes shortcuts to your friends list and message box and it has a touch pad somewhere to make it easier to browse the web and what not.

Then probably one of the biggerest games at GC was Heavy Rain. Heavy Rain is somewhat like Alan Wake for the XBOX 360 and is made by Quantic Dreams same people that did Indigo Prophecy.

SCEE is promising it will talk about topics unheard of in gaming, "making it a genuinely mature game for a new world of adult gamers." Add this to another big exclusive to the Playstation 3 for 2009!

Siren Has Been Won!

Yea today I beat Siren: The New Beginning and it was very fun. I must say this game kept my heart pounding the whole time I played it. This game isn't really that scary but it's more like holy shit did that guy see me?! The game is basically Splinter Cell but scarier with more blood(!). Shedding Some Light

I've noticed that a lot of fanboys are not as informed as I am. Most people wonder why some things happen and why some things are. This will be mainly PS3 vs. Xbox 360 but I'm going to try not to take any shots at either console and make this as even as possible.

First up why do PS3 sytem and game updates take longer than on 360? The answer is PS3 system updates are about 150MB give or take, the 360's updates are 8MB giver or take but thats around the average. The game updates are the same thing. If you noticed the Burnout: Paradise Cagney update is upwards of 100MB, on the PS3 this is downloaded when you turn the game on. The 360 has you download it from the Marketplace.

Another thing I hear a lot is why is it most games that are ported from 360 to PS3 are bad on the PS3? Some say its because the PS3 isn't as strong as what Sony said it would be and because the PS3 has less RAM. Wrong! The reason why there bad is really because of lazy developers and this is why.. The 360 has 3 cores all at 3.2GHZ the PS3's Cell processor has 1 main core at 3.2GHZ and has 8 Synergistic cores but 7 are active since Sony turned one off. Another one is used exclusively for the OS so 6 Synergistic cores can be used for games. The reason why ports are bad is because on the PS3 you have to split up Physics and lighting etc... amongst the 6 cores and this is hard to do. Its easier to go from 6 to 3 thats why you hear some people say you should go from PS3 to 360. Also the RAM issue isn't a issue at all the PS3 does have 512MB of RAM same as the 360 but there split 256MB for the Cell and 256 for the GPU similar to PCs, the PS3 can share RAM between the two when its needed and its not slower the PS3 has 256MB of XDR RAM which is extremely fast hence the X and is around twice as fast as the 360s GDDR3 RAM and the PS3 has 256MB of GDDR3 RAM as well. So really bad ports are due to lazy developers and thats why! Also to note the PS3 version of the Orange Box which is usually frowned upon really does show how powerful the PS3 is! The Orange Box really wast much worse than the 360 version if I say its worse than the 360 version why did I say it shows the PS3's power? It's because the OB didn't use any Synergistic cores it just used the main core and thats it!

Really the thing people put down on the PS3 is the Mandatory installs and this is why they happen. The PS3 uses a Blu-ray drive that is at 2x speed the 360 uses a DVD drive at the speed of 12x i believe. You might think holy hell the PS3 has to get all of that data off of there at only 2x speed why'll the 360 toasts it with 12x. Really the drives are almost equal the read speed on a Blu-ray disc is faster than a DVD but the 2x speed isn't faster than 12x. Now if there almost equal why the big installs? The answer is compression and the read speed! With Metal Gear Solid 4 the game is stated to take up the whole 50GB of a Blu-ray disc which is almost 10x what a Dual layer DVD can hold. Now the game is the least compressed it can be to fit on the disc on the 360 they would compress the hell out of it thus helping loading speeds and not using 10 DVDs. So really the BDs greatest advantage is its greatest weakness. One thing the PS3 usually has over the 360 is texture quality. Lets take Assassins Creed as an example, this game looks worse on the PS3 but has better textures. This is because there less compressed using more of the Blu-ray disc but the BD drive cant read these big textures fast enough the developers offload them to the HDD.

These are really most of the complaints I hear that are wrong or people don't understand. If you know anymore sound off in the comments and Ill try to provide an answer to it.

Look at All of the Space!

Yesterday I went to Circuit City and bought a new hard drive for my Playstation 3. We really didn't want to order online so C.C. is really the only place around that has 2.5" SATA hard drives. I got the last one and the only size they had was 160GB which was kinda disappointing but I guess 100GB is quite a bit for awhile. So we bought the hard drive and a external hard drive to back up my Playstation. So I get home kinda excited and run upstairs plug in my external hard drive and hit back up and it said 1hour and 44minutes! what!?!? Noooo. So I go downstairs to see whats good on demand and see they put Halloween II up (woot!) So I see the lot of stoop touchers get slashed and go back upstairs to see the back up is done (!). So I unplug everything and open the hard drive enclosure on the Playstation and grab a screw driver and to my surprise none of my 14 screwdrivers work! I have ones too big too small and one that would of worked was missing half of the head (WTF) who the hell breaks a screw driver. So when I run to the store today I'll get a screw driver to get this damn thing in. Ill update when I get it in.
***Update*** I got it in was a little harder than expected with the last screw being stripped. Then I put everything back on took over 2 hours which I guess isn't to bad for 45GB. All of my paid content like games and the new videos all work the same as they used to. When I first turned it on all of my trophies were gone but I loaded up the game then exited and they were back so that was great. Overall easy not as easy as it could of been but hell at least everything works and I'm not dead so all in all a good day.

Bringing Xbox Back

So I got my Xbox back after 16 days (Thanks Zak) and I think I got a good one. It's pretty much dead silent and so is the DVD drive overall its not much louder than my Playstation 3. I still can't download any "M" or "RP" rated content! I think I got a brand new Xbox like old HDMI less but new as in never used. I'm very pleased on how fast Microsoft got it back to me even though it took 4x longer to get back than when it was shipped. Anyway I'm going to play some more Siren then restart Bioshock since I think I messed up. So good job to everyone and I'm glad to have my Xbox 360 back.

PS.. I hope I never have to talk to Maxx again cause he is a jackass and peep one of my favorite videos from when the 360 came out above and Yes the PS3 is still big as a SUV and the Wii is still wii wii wack! :)

Kaz Hirai Scoffs At Your Exclusives

Well some pretty strong words coming from Kaz Hirai in a interview on how many used-to-be Playstation Exclusives are going to the Xbox 360. Where the interviewer asked him to pick a 360 exclusive that he would want and he said "none of them". Here's the inter view:

Aftonbladet: If you had to choose ONE exclusive Xbox 360 title and launch it for the PS3 instead, which game would it be?
Hirai: I don't think I have to choose any.....
Aftonbladet: You have to pick one.
Hirai: Again, I don't think I have to pick one because we have such a fantastic lineup of games.
Aftonbladet: But if someone is holding a gun to your head and you have to choose one. Which game would it be?
Hirai: Okay.. then they have to shoot me, because I really don't think we need any.

Some pretty bold words but I was thinking really there isn't any that I would want exclusive on the PS3 , or atleast I dont think any are neccesary for the PS3 to do well. To quote a comment I read once it said " It's funny that all of the Xbox 360 fanboys are down on the Playstation 3 but yet all of the games they want are PS3 exclusives and where the opposite is not true." Which I read right before E3 on a N4G post and it seems to prove Kaz's point.

Do You Hear It?

So last night I bought Siren: Blood Curse and it is a massive game coming in at a whopping 9GB! So I deleted my GTA IV install and my Metal Gear 4 install which were both around 4 GB and I have 2GB left after I bought Siren so it's time to get a new hard drive I can't delete anything else but any who back to Siren, I downloaded it and it took a good amount of time then I played the first episode which was extremely short and I started to get worried when they said it takes about 2 hours per episode and the first one was probably 25 minutes. It seems they get longer as you go, the second episode was around the hour mark and the third which I just completed was around the hour-2hour mark and made me really feel like this $40 purchase was worth it. The character models are some of the best looking around and when you attack someone enough your character does a vicious finisher which sends blood through the air onto the wall which really surprised me. I give big ^UPs^ to the talented Japan Studio, who seems to be really cranking out the good games this generation.

Alienware On The Down low

I was looking over on the Voodoo website to see what I could dream about tonight and I started looking at there community Blog The Next Bench. Then I started to wonder if Alienware had a community Blog I mean there bigger more known than Voodooo so you think they would but they don't. So I was looking around on there site and I seen they have wallpapers to download so I checked those out. They had a really cool looking one ^^ so I downloaded it and I found they only have ones at extremely low resolutions and only in 4x3. I mean they have expensive computers don't you think the gamer that bought them would have a high resolution 16X10 display. The highest they had was 1600x1200 which is high for a 4x3 monitor and then the others were 1024x768 and 800x600 both pretty low. That was just a thing I seen and found funny.

Playstation Video Store

Sony put up the Video Store last night and I decided to check it out. They have a great movie collection lots of new mixed with some old. You can have new movies like Drillbit Taylor, Walk Hard, and Cloverfield. On the old side they have classics like Rocky, Die Hard, and Rambo. From what I can tell an average SD movie is around 2GB the biggest I seen was Spanglish (2500MB)since that movie is like 3 hours long. The SD movies are in 720x480 which is DVD resolution and recorded at 2Mb/s which is ok still looks nice (Avg. DVD is around 8Mb/s). I far as I have seen you can't buy as in keep HD movies but there pretty good quality for a download at around 6Mb/s. Really you cant make the bitrate that high or the movies will just be so huge Cloverfield in HD is 6GB as is, so I'm happy with the quality. I bought "the Bank Job" last night looks nice I didn't check if it had 5.1 surround sound but it should. It was around 12:30 when I got it so I didn't feel like watching it. All in all it was very quick to download it was around 1.8GB and it downloaded in a half hour which was very quick in my opinion. This is something I always wanted a place that I can buy and keep movies smiler to iTunes but with out there horrible pricing and quality! *** Update: I just finished "the Bank Job" and I guess the movies don't support 5.1 surround sound which is disapointing but "the Bank Job" was a great movie based off a true story and was worth the $15! Also you can't watch the movies through remote play which sucks I guess there is some form of copyright reason preventing them from doing that.***Update***

Sony's Press Conference

So Sony's Press Conference just finished. Every ones cards are on the table and again this year Sony took the cake for best Press Conference. They announced feature after feature game after game, everything everyone wanted to hear! The 80GB PS3 basically got a price drop cutting out the 40GB at just $399. Sony announced the Video Marketplace goes Live tonight with the most popular movie and TV show providers. You can buy or rent Movies available in both SD and HD and TV shows are available to buy in SD or HD. Movies are $6 for a rental from $10 to $15 to purchase. TV shows are $2 which is inline with every other provider. One thing Jack Tretton who directed the whole Conference was wrong about is that this is the year of the PS3 he was wrong it is the year of Playstation. With huge games coming to PSP, PS2, and PS3 the Playstation brand is alive and kicking. PSP games include the likes of portable versions of Resistance: Retributions and Super Stardust Portable. Plus all of the other games Loccorocco 2 and Patapon 2. The PS2 is getting more games like a new Singstar, Mercenaries 2, and all of the sports games from EA. Sony's Flagship console the Playstation 3 is getting newly annouonced heavy hitters like God of War 3, MAG (Massive Action Game) plus the usual Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Infamous, and the Ratchet and Clank expansion Quest for Booty. Sony announced that "Life with Playsation" will be out by the end of the month. Sony truly has the Systems to beat this holiday season and beyond. Also with the creators of Mirrors Edge, Farcry 2, and Fallout 3 saying how the PS3 is better suited for there games means third party game makers are finally seeing that the PS3 is the Powerhouse Sony intended it to be!

Nintendo Press Conference

So another one down and I must say I recorded this Press Conference. I will have no problem going to sleep from here on out! This was such a boring Press Conference, there was not to many games announced. Wii Sports: Resort which has some more mini-games but set out side by the beach like Jet Skiing, Frisbee Throwing, Sword Fighting you know the usual stuff you do at the beach. They also announced Wii Music which is basically Rock Band but with out the instruments. The most shocking thing they announced that I'm interested in is Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars, they didn't show anything about it but said it takes place in Liberty City and it is coming for the DS. They also showed a new Animal Crossing which is titled Animal Crossing: City Folk. This gme has the same city as the Gamecube one plus a new City which is like New York, plus they added this game will have Voice Chat with the new microphone thing that sits on your motion sensor. It seems like a bad idea the voices come through your tv so I'm sure that there will be some voice and sound ecco. I feel Nintendo really blew it not announcing a harddrive or anything. I bet they held alot back for Tokyo Game Show. The real show begins in 30minutes so lets see what Sony has to offer!

Microsoft's E3 Press Conference

Well one down 2 to go and I must say I'm not that impressed. Really it was more of the same Gears was there some Fable 2 a failed Xbox nothing real surprising. No real game announcements besides Portal 2 coming to XBLA and the known about Lips. It seems there really going to go head to head against the Wii with there new family/party games. I did to my surprise like Lips (Karaoke) and the Scene it did look cool especially with the new Avatars. Out of the video with Fable 2 I don't see why there is hype for this game really at all and when they cut Resident Evil 5 short for it, I got kinda mad especially when Peter Molyneux basically wasted everyone's time just saying it was done and that you can get drunk with your friend in co-op oh great must have feature right there you dumb fuck mook! Another thig that kinda made me mad is the fact they copied Sony's E3 press conference from last year but made it more boring, basically take Sony's Press conference replace Home with Avatars and Lips with Sing Star and add some hardware failures you get Microsoft's E3 2008 Press Conference. They even copied off the "There is one more thing" that Sony did with Killzone 2! Couple more things the redesigned dashboard looks goofy and more confusing I hope it's not as bad as it looks and I'm glad when Billy G stepped down from Microsoft he made one last contribution from his check book. **Update** Obviously not a big enough contribution since SquareEnix said they will get to the Xbox 360 when the PS3 one is done.

E3 2008! I Can Only Hope..

Well on Monday, E3 2008 begins with Microsoft's Press Conference. As I was watching Resident Evil Apocalypse I started think on what I would really like to see from the big three. So here is what I think all 3 companies should do to be the best they possibly can and how to put a damper on there rivals plans.

First up Microsoft Since there Press Conference is the first I feel I should start with them.

First: They need to announce a price drop! Everyone knows one is coming Sunday to the Premium version, but that isn't good enough. They need to lower the Price of the Elite to $400, keep the Premium at $349 but include a 60GB or 80GB hard drive, finally keep the Arcade at $279 but include a 20GB hard drive. They need to faze out hard drive less 360s.

Second: They need to re-design the Dashboard. Until you use the XMB you will never realize how clunky the blades are.

Third: Drop the price of Xbox Live to $30! With the PS3 really catching up in terms of performance and subscribers ( PSN=9million Xbox Live=12 million) they need to pull away. Plus stop nickle and diming the consumer. $2 for a theme or gamer pictures is ridicules especially since there is no preview!

Fourth: I cant express this enough GAMES! GAMES! AND MORE GAMES! Not this crap they pulled last year where they had like 5 exclusives all year and that's counting the Xbox and PC games (Bioshock and Masseffect). Plus with Bioware going to EA and Bioshock not being exclusive there hurting for games and the stuff Rare has been pumping out isn't going to cut it!

Fifth: FIX your damn HARDWARE!! Well that's all I have to say about that.

Sixth: Have Zune tie into Xbox Live and bring out the games. Plus announce the Zune will work with the videos you have downloaded on your Xbox

Final Thoughts: Don't introduce a motion controller! You guys brought out the camera and there is one game that uses it. So don't screw your self releasing a motion controller that will only be used in 2 games. Also don't copy shoddy features from competitors. Your supposed to be the leader and introduce new things everyone wants to copy.

Next Up the Big "N"
Well here is Nintendo a Company that sells a ass load of hardware each month, what more can you want? I think I have an idea..

First: Some FUCKING GAMES! They need to reveal what ever Retro is working on and bring out Animal Crossing. They need some new IPs! Mario Party 85 better not be shown or announced, if anything say your canceling it! Thats what I would want to hear. If there going to bring out some more old IPs they need to be Pikman and Luigies Mansion, two games that would work great with the Wii mote. Also wouldn't be surprised to see a new Wario Land game.

Second: A Price Drop to everything. There making Pure profit on the Wii and DS and its time to spread it with the consumers, bring the Wii to $200 and the DS to $100! They will FLY off of the shelves at such a crazy rate it wouldn't be funny. Also drop the price of first party games at least $10. I mean "New Super Mario Bros." has been $34 for 2 years! Come on guys its not Halo your just hurting your self.

Third: Pimp out the Online a bit. On the Wii atleast add a real friends list and voice chat. The Wii has built in bluetooth there isn't a reason they cant have you be able to hook up a headset.

Fourth: If the DS price drop doesn't happen bring out a new DS same price with some form of Multimedia features and maybe internal storage for downloadable games from the Wii. Also make it Aluminum so I can chuck it at someone and it will be ok. Plus to everyone that thinks there going to drop the GBA slot, its not going to happen.

Final Thoughts: Stop nickle and diming the consumer! 90 year old shit games shouldn't be $10. Plus the web browser for $5 isn't that good. For five bones I expect it to have up to date flash plug-ins.

At last Sony2008 is supposed to be the year of the Playstation 3 and so far it has. With Huge games and cool applications Sony has really stepped up there game. With firmware 2.4 out, Sony has addressed the Playstation 3's two weak points against the Xbox 360 ( Trophies and Cross game Messaging). Sony did a good job at bringing the Playstaion 3 back from an almost imminant death, but there still not perfect.

First: Sony needs to announce that all of there games are on track and there will not be many (any) more delays. Thus ending the Delaystation era.

Second: Update us on Home! Show us more of its features in better depth. Tell us Home is on track for fall release and there won't be another delay.

Third: I understand the PS3 has some RAM constrictions but bring in private chat during a game and make the In game XMB load faster or get rid of all of the icons! If I cant look at pictures in game why let me see them! The same goes for everything else get rid of the useless icons it would make it load faster and use less memory.

Fourth: Show us more Life with Playstation Stuff and possibly a release date hopefully soon!

Fifth: Add more PS3 to PSP functionality! This truly is Sony's secret weapon against everyone else! Let me stream DVDs or let me copy Videos, games, and pictures through remoteplay to my PSPs memorystick. Also let me use my PSP as a remote to controle Videos also if you could let us use our PSPs to view the XMB while were in a PS3 game.

Sixth: Announce PSP2! If not fix the current PSP announce firmware 5.0 thus pretty much skip 4.0, and add more functionality as in Divx and DLNA support, update the flash player in the web browser if the Mylo can do it so can PSP and at last tie PSP with the PSN let me see my friends and messages on my PSP.

Seventh: Announce that the video store is ready and will launch with TV shows and Movies that you can buy or rent and have a choice of SD or HD and allow us to veiw/copy them on PSP. Oh yea have it come out at the end of the month!

Eighth: If Microsoft and Nintendo do a price drop you have to follow suit. Plus it will really boost your sales!!

Final Thoughts: Don't bring a new controller unless it's the boomerang (I want something new) and stick to your promises!

Today I fired up my Xbox to play some Bioshock it flashed a pretty blue screen at me I guess that shows it has something in common with Windows then I shut it off and then I could see the light. This will be the second time Im sending in my Xbox 360 first was because of the DVD drive. Well Xbox I tried to play with you but with the controlers battery not holding charge you not liking my gamesaves it just wasnt meant to be.

So with Sony introducing Trophies I see it going the same way as Achievements, as in people wanting to cheat or do something they would never EVER do just to get those points or trophy. Now I've decided to write this article because I was on a website talking about Firmware 2.40 and this guy was righting comments saying how Trophies are dumb and so are Achievements. While I would not say there dumb but, I will say the have ruined gaming all together. So as this guy was going on and on I looked at his Gamercard (this was on a blogger and if you click there name it takes you to there blog) and for someone to say they don't matter and have a 50,000 Gamerscore, it got me really mad to say the least. Now in the picture to the right is basically his Gamercard with a few things changed but, what isn't changed is the games he has played. Looking at his games played he had 1000/1000 out of about 8 games he has played 6 of them are: CSI, Lost the game, Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean, TMNT. If your aware those are the easiest games to get 1000/1000 on, that really you wouldn't play. So this got me thinking about Achievements and Trophies its all bullshit. I say the only way you should get Achievements and Trophies are by going one time through doing what you would normally do. Not shoot 50 birds or something stupid like that, what you would of done before Achievements, would of been to go from point A to point B and finish the game best you can and that is basically how I have been playing it! I don't search for documents I dont want to have to camp to stay alive for 30 seconds in multiplayer to get 10 Achievement points my teammates need me. I say if your running around getting involved and you happen to stay alive I say more power to you! Now with people using sites like xbox360achievements.org, ps3trophies.org, and sites like Gamefaqs or gametrailers to figure out where or how to do something and that takes the skill out of being a true gamer. I used 1 of those sites since the 360 launched and that was gametrailers, I used it to see how to beat a boss in Ninja Gaiden Sigma and I still feel guilty for doing it, but what it showed was I was doing the right thing just had to do it faster. So I wrote this article to express my anger toward how Achievements and Trophies really are ruining games and gamers today. I didn't write this to be directed toward any particular person it is directed toward the community as a whole. I started to noticed my self doing things I wouldn't normally do and it kinda bugs me. I would say they are a good idea if every single Achievement and Trophy was received with out cheating of some sort. I consider sites that tell you what to do, how to do, and where to look CHEATING! You shouldn't go buy Avatar the Last Airbender unless your a fan or liked it and by the reveiws not many liked it. So I guess that's it I've been pretty mad about this for awhile but with the introduction of Trophies and to see it going the same way I just had to express my anger somewhere and good thing I have a Blog :-) But anywho keep it fair out there and see you online!

Metal Gear Solid 4 [REVIEW]

As I said the other day I beat Metal Gear Solid 4 and it was awesome! This is what videogames are all about, Metal Gear is really the first game I have ever played that is a movie that you play. With INCREDIBLE graphics and very crisp, clean sounding Dolby Digital it is total mmersion. Really I would of beat this game about 3-4 days earlier but since my neighbor is such a bitch (basically if I could hear it past 9:00 so could she) I only played this game during the day. I wouldn't settle for any thing less than 18 on the old surround sound system. At night about 10 is the max before the neighbor goes apeshit and try's to kill me. So any who here is the promised review!

So in Metal Gear Solid 4 you play as Solid Snake who has aged into Old Snake. MGS4 takes place 5 years after MGS2, and war has changed. Not in the way of shooting everything that moves but the way everyone works together, everyone now has Nano Machines flowing through there veins. These Nano Machines boost your senses, improve your reaction time, and reduce pain. Thus creating perfect soldiers. I'm not going to say much more because I dont want to ruin the excellent story. Also if you have never played a Metal Gear game or never payed attention to the story you will most likely not like this game. This game has cut-scenes and lots of them. Honestly probably every half hour you get atleast a 10 minute cut-scene. The rumors of this game having 90 minute cut-scenes is bogus, the longest cut-scene was around the 40-50 minute range and that was the last one, so once your about to beat it go make some pop corn or make a sandwich and enjoy the show. When playing for 3 hours you will most likely see 90 minutes of cut-scenes all together, but like I said if your a fan of Metal Gear then you'll enjoy them especially since the Kojima sense of humor is still intact. Just to give you a last clue on the cut-scenes in the end it said I played 18 hours which is a good lenghty game about twice as long as most games are these days, I would say maybe 4-6 hours is cut-scenes. Now for the Boss's the Metal Gear series has been known for the crazy boss battles and why'll there still here there isn't many of them and pretty much all of them are straight forward. As you can probably tell one is like Prey Mantis whome was the greatest boss ever in any game. Just so you know to defeat this boss you dont need any additional hardware and you dont need to change the controller port and if you do change it Otocon will laugh at you telling you your stupid for thinking that trick will work twice! Now for the graphics they are the best you will see in any game as off right now and near future. The game has a native resolution of 720p but supports 480i, 480p, 1080i, and 1080p. The game supports Dolby Digital which is very clean and crisp sounding. I would of liked to see some form of 7.1 sourround sound or atleast Dolby DTS, but since they say they filled up a Dual layer Blu-ray disc this wasn't possible. The game looks good with NO POP IN (WOOOOOOO), also it has very I mean very minimal jaggies on that note the chracter models are the best I have EVER seen there extremely realistic, also since they didn't use the Unreal Engine nothing is shiny that shouldnt be (no shiny sand here)! If you like Metal Gear and have played all of them (Story goes back to MG on NES) you will see Metal Gear Solid 4 ties up the story very well even though I feel it leaves one question unanswered which is brought up in MGS 4. Also the game includes Metal Gear Online which is basically MGS Portable Ops for PSP but with the new engine and more stuff, the Online is hard to get into because it uses Konami IDs which suck BALLS! You have to make two names a Konami ID and a Game ID the two cannont be the same and the Game ID's password can only be Numbers. I dont know who thought of that but they need to be dead ASAP! Really there is no reason to not own this game even if you never played Metal Gear before it will still be enjoyable. If you have played them before and liked them you need to pick this masterpiece up!

Metal Gear Solid 4 has been Won!

Yesterday around 7:00pm I beat Metal Gear. It was a fantastic game! The game looked as good if not better than the trailers and No none of the cut-scenes were 90 minutes long. The longest cut-scene was at the end which was around the 40 minute mark. I really enjoyed this game probably the best I have ever played! Expect a review soon!
Ps.... Don't count on that MGS Remake :-(

1,000 Strong

I just recently passed the 1,000 songs played on my Zune. This happened in a month and a half. If you think about it thats a long time just listening to music on average a song is 4min is that is 4,680 minutes or 78 hours of music. That is more time than: total hours played in Call of duty 4, 936 Horse Races, its enough time to cook 15.6, 24lbs. turkeys, if I listened to all of my music again Metal Gear Solid 4 would be out. As you can see thats a lot of time and it was a fine experience with my Zune. Also during this time I got 3 Badges which are like Achievements, 2 Badges are for being a Bronze Artist Power listener (50 songs from Artist) and the other one is a Bronze Album Power Listener (50 songs from same album). The two artists are Lil John and the Eastside Boyz and Nelly, the album is Nellyville. So far I really like my Zune and would recommend it to anyone looking for a MP3 player, I love the Social aspect where you get to see what your friends have been listening to and if you have a Zune Pass it even downloads there top 10 most played songs for you. With the inclusion of T.V. show downloads the Zune is starting to be a real iPod competitor.

Haze Has Been Won

At 3:20 today I beat Haze. Haze is a Playstation 3 exclusive that hasn't really had any good reviews, and after playing it I can't really see why it would get a 6/10. I'll admit that it's no 10 or even a 9 but its definitely not a 6. For the first 25% of the game you play as a soldier for the Mantel corporation. Mantel is a company that is into the cutting edge, they have the very best everything, the best guns, best vehicles, and best soldiers! You'll agree once you play it. For the other 75% of the game you are in a anti-Mantel group called The Promise Hand whom thinks Mantel is up to no good and wants to stop them. I'm not going to talk much about the story since its easy to spoil and I don't want to ruin it for you, but I will say its very interesting and I think it symbolizes the war in Iraq, like I said I won't ruin it for you but theres a tidbit for ya. Now lets get to the game. Starting with controls it has your pretty basic shooting controls like R1 to shoot, L1 to throw grenade, X to jump, O to change weapons, square is your action button, and triangle reloads, R2 hits and L2 depends if your a Mantel soldier (Use Nector) and if your a Promise Soldier its to play dead. The actual game is very slow paced think Rainbow Six and is some what a tactical game, there is no run button or cover button. The game is also very smooth running at a solid 30fps and is presented in 720p only, the game has minimal jaggies and very little pop in. This is achieved with a 5GB mandatory install which sucks! but is worth it. The sound is very well done presented in Dolby DTS which is a less compressed version of Dolby Digital and sounds great. I haven't tried the multiplayer yet but it supports voice chat and the 4 player co-op is really smooth think Burnout Paradise. The game does have its flaws. I think this game takes the cake for the DUMBEST A.I. teammates EVER. They will either just shoot the guy 3 or 4 times not killing him or just run past him completely, sometimes they even run with the enemy. The game also has very bad gun damage it takes 10 shots sometimes it takes 30 shots just to kill one guy, granted I was playing in hard. Also the vehicles handle like balls basically if you hold left your car will immediately turn completely sideways no matter how fast your going also they make noise that makes them seem like there going a lot faster but it looks like your going 15mph. Also I have never been killed by a vehicle so much, sometimes the vehicle wasn't even moving, sometimes the enemy will be coming at you try to ram you and miss but yet you still die. Check the more detailed list in the post below. Haze is a good game but could of been much better. It shows they rushed it and if they make a second one it will be much better. Really the thing that threw me over the edge in not giving this game a 9 is the teammates say the same damn thing over and over again similar to this song.

As you can see this guy got sick of it and shot him self in the eye, good move buddy. Haze is a great game and is a refreshing experience. I say wait till its $40 and then it will be a must have but if your looking for a game to fill the void between now and the 12th its not to bad of an idea to pick this one up since its only around the 8 hour mark.

Really liking Haze the game is a lot of fun and looks good I would say its about on par with Halo 3 and some stuff looks better in Haze like the water effects when it rains. Right now I'm playing the game on Hard with the crosshair on minimal and Aim Assist off so, basically you cant get any harder than what I'm playing it on. On the bad side: the AI in this game could quite possibly be the dumbest I've ever seen people will just walk with each other, some will shoot the guy 3 or 4 times and walk by, and when you play dead there is usually a guy right in front of you and most of the time he is still there and alive when you get up. Also the dialog is bad for the most part , its really cheesy and repetitive . You can really tell this is going to make its way to the Xbox since they don't make use of a Blu-ray disc and reuse a lot of stuff. Like if I have to hear "I'm a "G" you know me" or "Remember your promise to Marino" one more time I might snap its honestly every 3min. One last thing the game is extremely scripted like at one point in the game when you work for Mantel something happens and you get a Nector disruption and if you look at your guys you shoot them and if you don't look at them of shoot them they will just die for no reason. Also when you get a Nector disruption it lasts until you get to a certain point as in if you go back or something to get ammo it will still be going and it will go on forever until you get to a certain place and when your in a car and go off of a ramp it makes this noise like your in the Dukes of Hazzard. Last thing bullet damage is wonky sometimes you will kill someone with 5 bullets and sometimes it will take a clip or even more, also it has the Doom 3 effect where a single knife will kill someone but it will take 4 wacks or 10-30 bullets.

Resident Evil 4 Has been Won!! (Reveiw)

Resident Evil 4 was arguably the best game on the Gamecube. Later it was ported to the PS2 with more content but the graphics suffered on the weaker system. So when you combine the Graphics from the Gamecube with the extra content from the PS2 + waggle you get the supreme Wii version. Three years ago I played the hell out of the Gamecube version, I got all the way to Krauser, which if you played you know that thats really close to the end and trust me I feel stupid for waiting to buy it (I rented it) and complete this epic adventure. So here is my reveiw.

You play as Leon S. Kennedy (Here^) and you mission is to save the Presidents daughter: Ashley. When Leon gets there and he finds out that there is a bigger problem going on. The game has a Spanish heritage and I learned the C' est' sta' means like oh shit we're about to die (my interpretation) also that all of these Zombies have mommy's STDs (If you played the game that would be a funny). The game uses the Wii abilities better than Mario Galaxy and most other Wii games. With the new waggle features it actually feels like your doing something, like during the game you have to do some button/waggle combinations to either dodge out of the way, jump at the right moment, or beat ass away from a monster. During your first encounter with Krauser you get in a fight where you do a side swipe to do a barrel roll out of the way, which is really bad ass. The graphics hold up well and are presented in 480p and widescreen. The Gamecube was only 480p and the PS2 was both widescreen and 480p. Every thing is presented in great detail and the thing that seems to of got out of hand with Xbox 360 and PS3 is texture pop in there is absolutely NONE and I love that, I rather a game look like this with good anti-aliasing and no texture pop in than a game that is so real that the system cant even load the level fast enough. The sound is encoded in Pro Logic II which actually rivals some PS3/360 games. RE4 is quite long at around 17 hours, taking your time but still going swiftly. There is many Bad-Ass moments in the game and I think this is the best so check this video. **Caution**Spoiler Alert**
So if you need a good game to play and like blood and swearing in Spanish then Resident Evil 4 is for you. If you have a PS2, Gamecube,or Wii you need this game. I personally would play this over GTAIV any day. The game is cheap $30 for Wii and I'm sure cheaper if you can find it for PS2 and Gamecube. Also a few things this game doen't support the Zapper or Gamecube controller. The game does support the Classic controller but I'm not sure how that works I guess it would be basically the Gamecube version. Also the game is in widescreen no matter what, as in if you playing on a 4:3 t.v. you'll see the black bars on the top and bottom and if you have the Wii set to widescreen and your t.v. supports it, it will be in full screen with no black bars (anamorphic widescreen). One last thing if you see a guy with a Chainsaw you either better start screaming C' est' sta' or pull out the trusty magnum. So don't be a stranger go out and buy it!

It was a dark, gloomy, rainy day when I went to the store. I immediately went over to the electronics department, I looked to see what goods they had and nothing to special popped out at me. I went over to the discount section to see what cheapo games they had, and there it was in all of its glory in its blue covered case. I said there is no way this is under $40. I went over to the cashier of whom was a scruffy young fellow who said " Wutda Buyin?" I asked him how much it was and he said "we got good things on sale today stranger" and this is not one of them. "I bought it at a high price". I went home excited to RElive this game 4 a few minutes. I dimmed the lights shut the curtains and fired up my Wii. The game was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I don't remember much of this game since the last time I played it was 3 years ago. I ran past many merchants that appear to be selling purple bandannas and a how-to on how to make fire blue. Then there was this women who kept on knifing me in the face, so I shot her assuming she was a hooker under the influence. She kept getting up wanting more so I shot her in the face 4 more times and her head came off. A little disturbed I ran past and figured that Mexican hooker had the aids. This was my experience with Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition.

This is my second game for the Wii. It was only $29 which is defiantly not a high price. The Wii controls work pretty well but not as good as I would of liked. You have to press the B button which is the trigger and then aim with the Wii-mote. The main problem is you have to move the camera with the analogue stick while in the aim view . The other problem which isn't to bad is that you wiggle the Wii-mote to do a knife swipe. If you move the target to fast Leon breaks out into a Michael Myers knife swipe dance. Overall the game is the same great Gamecube classic that we all know and love with all of the PS2's extras. Ill do a full review when I beat it. In a little while .

Birthday Present Round Up

Thursday I got Gran Turismo 5: Prologue which kicked off the Birthday fiasco. GT 5 is a great game and
was most defiantly worth the $40 for the download. If you need a great game that will show off your HDTV and you have a PS3 defiantly check this one out!

Gift #2:
Saturday I went to target to get a Zune 80 but they were out, so I bought a Zune 8GB saved me $100. I guess it was supposed to be this way since I got about 4 gifts I wouldn't of got if I didn't save that $100. So far I love my Zune and dont regret getting it at all!

The same day I got the Zune I shot over to Game Crazy and grabbed a Dual Shock 3. I was hoping they didnt run out and it turns out they had a whole wall of them so I got one. The controller feels much more stable with the added heft, but really if there is nothing wrong with your Sixaxis I wouldn't pick this one up.

Gift #4:
After owning the Zune for a week I decided to get a dock to really take advantage of wireless sync. The dock has video out but the Zune 8GB doesnt support it so I cant use that but I can have the music go through my t.v. The dock also charges and looks rather good too, from the pictures I've seen it looks like a big black dull brick but actually its shiny and goes with the Zune very nicely.

Gift #5:
While I was getting the dock I seen they had Bioshock for $40. So I picked up this masterpiece $20 off the launch price. Bioshock is a excellent game and I guess during the holiday mix I just skipped over this one. Defiantly worth $40 and if you skipped over it like I did then go pick this up especially at the $40 price tag.

Gift #6:

Saving the big gift for last. I seen on Nintendo Wii Fanboy that Toys R' Us got a ass load of Wiis, so I called and they said they were taking pre orders for the Wii Golden Ticket Event which is a bit over doing it if you ask me. I went up there placed 2 bones on it and got the golden ticket. I was going to skip out of there waving it in the air but either I was going to scar little children or get stabbed and get my golden ticket janked. Today picked it up as well as Mario Galaxy and found the tax on it to be really high I gave the guy $115 and got $1 back, in-case you cant tell thats $315! I get $1 back what kind of stuff is that? So $14 in tax seems rather high but what ever. The Wii-mote is very comfortable to hold the nunchuck on the other hand hurts my middle finger when I hold it for more than a hour. Other than that the system is very solid and I hope it was worth the $250 and from Mario Galaxy I think the Wii has great potential. The graphics are great for being two Gamcubes stuck together, they look like ass on my HDTV in 480i but on the non high definition 56" Sony they look great! Here eventually I hope to get the component cables. Soon I'll do a review on the Wii so check back in the next few days.

So thats it! it was a great Birthday to me and I'm very satisfied with all of my gifts!

Gotta Pick Up Some Wiid

Today I pre-purchased a Wii from Toys R' Us and they gave me a Golden Ticket, how cute. I had to put 2 bones down on it and ill put another $50 down and get Mario Galaxy. Then the following week hopefully Mario Kart, Smash Bros, or No More Heros. I'm excited about it and hopefully it will get used more than my GameCube which actually got used a lot. So ill tell you all what I think tomorrow after I play it for a bit.

So in Target the other day I picked up a Zune 8gb black. I was going to get the 80gb but they ran out and I thought to my self do I really need 80gb? I have under 1GB of music so I don't think I need 72 more gigabytes plus I save almost $100. The Zune 8gb comes in 4 colors: red, black, green, and pink. I got black and it looks very nice but you can see smuges from your fingers on it but the plastic is very durable and scratch resistant. The screen is made out of glass and looks very nice its 1.8" and is the same QVGA resolution of the Zune 80, so the screen is extremely crisp. The back is made of some form of metal which doesn't scratch and is very smooth. From the pictures I seen it seemed that it was rough kind of metal. The Zune 8gb has every thing the iPods have plus it is more durable and has wi-fi built in which allows you to share pictures and music with other nearby Zune owners. It also allows for something called wireless sync which transfers your music, podcasts, pictures, and movies over your network either when you start charging it or you decide to do it. The battery takes a massive hit when its syncing like that, On another note I like that you can change the wallpaper and the Zune pad is very nice very smooth. The bttom line is if you need a solid player thats not to big but has all of the functionality of a big player then the Zune 8gb is your guy!

On Saturday I went a bought the Dual Shock 3. There isn't really much to say, it's basically a Dual Shock 2 but its wireless and has the Sixaxis built in. The controller feels much more hefty and better built than the Sixaxis . Rumble is a great thing to have back on the Playstation and I'm even considering playing Uncharted and Heavenly Sword again to experience the rumble. Another thing many might not know but the original Sixaxis is partially see through which I thought was cool and is now gone in the Dualshock. I don't really think its worth $54 but my Sixaxis was starting to mess up so might as well get a new one with rumble. If your Sixaxis is in good shape I would not pick this up until at least Metal Gear or just wait till the holidays . Other than that its the same great controller with more shakes . Also the Sixaxis had this problem where it would get stuck and keep doing what ever button you were pressing, I haven't experienced this yet and I've played GT for about 10 hours with it and it hasn't happened so hopefully they fixed that problem.

The Drive of My Life

On Friday I downloaded Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and it's awesome! The download weighs in at about 2200MB and with the opening video its around 2500MB. I'm not really sure why the disc version requires such a install but it provides nearly a load less experience. The game features about 60 cars and 6 tracks each track a 1 variant like one turns Daytona into a road course, so basically 12 tracks that you can play on . The graphics are about on par with the videos theres a some aliasing problems going on which hopefully will be worked out before GT5. The online play is smooth for the most part and any car you unlock or buy in the single player you can play online. Online theres classes Beginner, Intermediate, Expert, and Pro. You have instant access to Beginner but have to unlock the others as you progress through the single player: C, B, and A class. The game is really worth $40 however you buy it, but I don't recommend that you buy it if your not going to play online, today I pretty much went thought the single player in one sitting. If your a fan of these types of games then its a must buy, if your not sure download GT HD off the PS Store.

There is a HUGE problem going on in the gaming biz. Today Next-Gen compiled a list of the top selling games of the last 12 months. There is many shockers in this list and shows people need to be shot. With not one PSP exclusive game in the top 100 thanks to those bastards who illegally download games also no PC games either. Mainly the real shocker is some of the other high profile game sales, how about how Mario Party 30 I mean 8 has sold more than every single PS3 game put together or how Transformers: The Game sold more copies than Mass Effect, BioShock, and The Orange Box Combined. This shows that dumb ass bitches should no longer be able to buy games. With A+ games like Uncharted, Burnout Paradise don't even reach a Million copies. Then with High School Musical Complete Gay Saga, out sells the likes of the Orange Box, Metroid Prime 3, Devil May Cry 4, and Dirt. I think the question is WTF people do you not have eyes or ears, or have you just not ever played a good game. I wish I knew what kids would like High School Musical (on the DS yet) over DIRT, Motor Storm or even Singstar.I feel this is a outrage and now see why people keep making movie games and making the same game over and over with 20 new mini-games (Mario Party). This list shows people need a wake-up call, if people keep downloading illegal or buying shitty games there wont be anymore good games, just Mario Party 55 with more waggle and High School Musical complete pink man thong edition is going to be the only successful games and they don't deserve it! So everyone grab a Pepsi MAX and WAKE UP PEOPLE!!

I have Won!! Ninja Gaiden DS [Reveiw]

Has it been 4 months already?
Today I beat Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword for the DS. The game was a lot easier and shorter than what I thought it was going to be (9 hours)...but as promised here is my review!

**Review**
Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword is my favorite DS game by far! The graphics are great the sound is awesome! The first thing you notice when you pop in NG: DS is the graphics, after playing Sigma on the PS3 I would of thought to see little short black things with sticks but I was wrong. The game has really good graphics think Legend of Dragoon . The character models look great and they look just like the characters from the Xbox/Ps3 version. The game play also is very well done, while holding the DS like cards or a book you slash the touch screen with the stylus and look like a jack ass while doing that, but it works great. Since I haven't played my DS to much I didn't have many scratches on the touch screen, well..... now I do! Probably 3-5 more using the stock stylus. Really the only sad thing is the game plays like Super Mario 64 where you go to rooms to play the level. In the beginning some one gets captured from the Black Spider Clan I'll leave the who up to you and eventually you teleport to the shadow realm or something similar to it and try to get the girl back before they kill her. Now basically how the game goes is: you go to a room kill some people and fight a boss. I believe you do this 14 times(?). But the game doesnt get harder as you go, the 4th to last boss is the hardest to beat while the last boss was quite easy, it was practically fighting Alma from the first game. The games story and game play is very good and fun but does NG use all of the DS's many features to help it along its journy? The answer is yes it uses all of them. The Touch Screen is used to fight and to draw the Ninpo symbols. The mic is used to wake up characters and discover little secrets. The wi-fi is used to connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and compare your scores with others. Overall the game is great and is a must buy if your a fan of challenging games. This game uses all of the DS's features and uses them well. The game is on the easy side especially for a Ninja Gaiden game, the thing that makes this so easy is when you go to a save station you get health and you Ninpo refilled. If you want a challenge closer to the console version play on Head Ninja which you unlock after beating it on normal. The game is sometimes really frustrating but overall is a great buy and at $34 theres no reason not to get it if you own a DS. This game has shown me what the DS is capable of and shows me the DS can be a great platform for something other than mini games.

Also on my trip to get NG:DS I seen a PS EYE, eyeing me up... get it... ehh never mind. Anyway I bought it and its surprisingly big and a lot better build quality than the Xbox Live camera...

So far I bought Trials Of Topoq ( 2 pac?).. No its not to see who killed 2 pac.. But you guide a ball through stairs like levels where when you move your hands and little squares pop up that move the ball.. Its hard to explain. The game isn't to bad its not going to win game of the year but what do you expect for $5.. So far its ok and with more games out and more hopefully coming it will not go the way of the Xbox cam.

The Dragon Sword is Back and Going Right Through My DS

Thats right..... Today is the start of major damage to my DS. I just went and got Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword for the Nintendo DS. Many of you might of thought I didn't have a DS since I don't really talk about it. Well I have had one since launch and the last game I bought for it was Wario Ware DS which came out the following February after the DS's launch. In case your counting thats not a single game for it since February 2005, 3 years ago!.. Now I'm finally getting some use out of it. But anyway back to the game.. This game takes place 6 months after the events of the first Ninja Gaiden (SIGMA). The game looks very good for a DS game as you can see from the screen shot above. I was very curious on how Ninja Gaiden would handle on the DS, more specifically on how attacking with the touch screen would work. With some getting used to it works surprisingly well, EX: you slash the stylus on your enemies very smiler to the Zelda game on the DS, and to throw shurikans(?) ninja stars by tapping the enemy. You also hold the DS like a book, which you get used to very quick.. Also on another note when holding the DS like this it looks more appropriate while your on the shitter. Just my 2 cents... So I've only played the first 2 chapters and I don't have much to talk about but what I do have to say is its a lot easier than Sigma.. Long story short if you have a DS and like the Ninja Gaiden games eg games that make you go nuts then you should go get it..
Review coming in like 4 months when I beat it, maybe longer if I have to go through multiple DS's..

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue 6gb install?

Yeah thats right Gran Turismo fans, GT5: Prologue has a 6GB install this is more than the download all together. I'm not really sure why I guess to keep load times to a minimal. In case you didn't hear the download version weighs in at a little more than 1GB, but the catch is you have to download each video individually. I'm not really sure how that works either, do you not get a opening video if you don't download it? Or is it the video from when you unlock a vehicle. No ones really sure but this must suck for you 20GB PS3 owners, you already have your hard drive full from DMC4, Lost Planet , and now GT 5.... Well its not all bad news, the cars look nice and I hear newegg.com is having a sale on hard drives.. So get to it you have about 50 min to order a new hard drive.......

Xbox Live's Main Plan..

So as you may or may not know in the Fall Update for Xbox Live, Microsoft banned all GOLD and silver members under the age of 18 from downloading "M" rated content. When asking Microsoft about this Microsoft replied something like, we want to protect our underage users from playing or seeing "M" rated content as followed by the E.S.R.B. and Nintendo and Sony should do the same.. Thats not the exact quote but its very similar to what they said. Now I can see where there going with this.. but why are the parental controls there if Microsoft is going to tell you what you can and can not play or watch! I don't know anyone above 18 that has parents that would block them from playing "M" rated content. Now imagine how mad I am, when I pay the same $50 a year as everyone else but get 1/4 of the downloads. If I wanted to play games where you pet bunnies and dumb shit like that I would own a Wii, what I want are demos and videos of games that have people blowing into a million pieces and getting chainsawed in the face! So.... after numerous calls to India... I mean Xbox customer support the response I get is to make a new silver account but lie about my age... WOW! Really thinking of the kids there huh Microsoft? So after thinking a lot I have come to the conclusion.... this is a way for Microsoft to get more Xbox Live users! Think about it.. They ban 65% of there users and trust me its 65% I have played Halo 3 online, from downloading 3/4 of the content released and if say 40% of those users call customer support and get told to make a new account to download "M" rated items they get 40% more Xbox Live users. So Microsoft out of 8million users how many have 2 accounts to download the demos you blocked them from? I believe this was there plan on how to get more subscribers. This is just coming from someone that was told they cant download "M" rated or "RP" rated content. I dont know maybe ill go play 36/53 "M" rated original Xbox games or my 14/20 "M" rated Xbox 360 games that I own! By the way I'm going to be 17 in 19 days and still not old enough to get a fucking demo that I pay $50 a year for!

Wheel Or No Wheel

So in 24 days it will be my Birthday and I've been thinking about what to get. In case you didn't want to count that means my Birthday is on April 17th. I'm going to be turning 17 and in one more year I'll be able to download "M"stuff off of Xbox Live (BASTARDS), but any who, on my Birthday Gran Turismo 5: Prologue comes out and I was wondering about the wheel. The wheel (pictured above^) costs a stiff $150. This would be a big step up from the wheels that I had on the Dreamcast which were cheap plastic and didnt even turn more than 90*. Just a f.y.i. the GT wheel turns 900*, which is all the way around + a 1/2, like in a real car. So if anyone can comment or recommend on why I should or shouldn't get I would appreciate it.

Why Pioneer? Why?

Today is a sad day. Pioneer, makers of the best televisions as of right now has announced that it will stop making plasma flat panels and move on to using Sharp LCD panels. This is to cut costs and help bring Pioneer back into the green. This doesn't bode well for Project Kuro which is Pioneer's tv that boasts a infinite contrast ratio for true blacks and is only 9mm thick. This is one millimeter thicker than a iPod Touch and I believe is thinner than a iPhone. Pioneer says they will begin selling Kuro (Kuro means Black in Japanese) LCDs in the later half of 2008. Hopefully they can do to LCDs that they did to plasmas. These TVs will remain in my most wanted list for awhile. Now where did I put that extra $6,000? ;-)

***Update Pioneer isn't canceling there plasmas there going to start to use the same panels that are in Panasonic tv's!***

Just a Heads Up

Just a quick note on whats going on. First of all I'm moving so I've been pretty busy to update the blog. I just wanted to make every one aware of whats going on. But second I bought a few games off of the PSN like Pixel Junk Monsters, Go! Sports Skydiving, Syphon Filter, and the original Warhawk. I'm not going to give a review of these games, but will give a quick insight on whether or not you should buy them. First up Pixel Junk Monsters. This is kind of expensive at $10 but at launch was $6.99 which was when I bought it. This game is good but hard its kind of like a puzzle game where you set up your towers of weapons and creatures walk through and you hope your guns kill them before they reach you base. Overall its good but cant really recommend it.

Go! Sports Skydiving is one of the most anticipated Go! games and at $5 you really cant complain. The game only uses the SixaxiS just like Go! Sports Ski but worse. You have to get in certin positions and this requires goofy as hell controller movements. First of all the controller is supposed to be flat in your hands where R1 and L1 face your T.V. then to rotate your character your supposed to be able to just rotate it (counter) clockwise, but to my frusration you have to flick it and hold so it gets in the position. I cant even tell you how many times I go into a spinning frenzy. Then you have to pull the controller toward you air plane style and your guy goes up or down. This game is ok if your a fan of the ski game, but if your not then I wouldn't check this out other than that has lots of modes and could be worth it if you can handle the controls.

Syphon Filter and (PSX) Warhawk. Syphon Filter is a awesome the game, graphics, sound, and gameplay are very well done and with the Type 4 controls works extremely well on the PSP. If you were looking for a game to buy off the PSN thats a PSX game then Syphon Filter Should be it! On the other hand warhawk is not so good. The game looks like poo (PSX launch title) and the real life people doing the cut scenes its not worth it. Also to add insult to injury it doesn't use a memory card it uses the codes that we all know and hate (ahh Zombies ate my neighbors comes to mind). This is not a game you want for PSP especially since the codes you have to remember are 8 buttons long. In the end check out Syphon Filter and avoid (PSX) Warhawk like the plague!

So last night as I was playing C.O.D.4 I was getting very frustrated, getting killed by the over powered and crazy accurate M16 and the over accurate RPD. I decided its time to put COD on the shelf until things get fixed. COD is going the way of Socom 2 quick, with people hacking there saved file (PS3) and changing the color of there name and putting button icons in there clan tag. This is how Socom 2 went down hill but COD is getting there much faster! With Infinity Ward working on a patch, I was thinking of every thing they need to fix to get me and many others to play COD4 again.
So heres a LIST.......

~ M16 Assault Rifle: Accuracy, Power, and Recoil, are extremely unrealistic. No gun is going to kill you across the map in three shots like that, it almost takes more sniper bullets to kill someone than it takes the M16 to kill someone and the M16 can be more accurate at most times, since you don't have to worry about holding your breath.

~ Barrett .50 Sniper Rifle: Not accurate enough and not powerful enough. Lets talk about accuracy first, the Barrett has a stand on the front which should make, most if not all movement in the scope go away, if your in the prone position. The Barrett in COD shouldn't move the same in the standing position as in the prone position. Second the power is garbage in the game. The Barrett can kill some one as far away as 5 miles in one shot in the appropriate place (head, torso) and it should the bullet it uses is almost the size of the Xbox 360 controller (from "B" to the Left Stick) its huge, it should kill you in one hit. Unlike in COD 4 it take on average 2 shots torso area with stopping power.
~Other Semi Automatic Sniper Rifles(M21): if a gun is suppose to be powerful and shoots fast like that the recoil would be insane.

Heavy Machine Guns (RPD, M60): A gun as big and powerful as a RPD or a M60 are going to have recoil I don't think putting a Red dot scope on a heavy machine gun is going to make it recoil less and be as accurate as a M16, its just not going to happen.

Other Complaints I don't agree with

~P90- too strong . Yes its strong but you have to be such a high level to get it and it doesn't have the range so it balances out.

Other things that need Fixed. At least in PS3 version

~Connecting back to Party after game ends, or host leaves.

~Be able to Mute annoying people or over excessive breathers.

~ More respawn areas! I Hate spawning in front of a group of people, or a person I kill spawns right near me.

~ In game Friends list (One thats on XMB)

~ In game messaging. If I can see my friends list or partial friends list why cant I send messages to them.

**I Guess thats it! If Infinity Ward Implements these features I'll be one happy person.**

GAME OF THE YEAR...

Uncharted is the best game I played all year. The graphics, sound, and game play are the best I've experienced all year. The game is a bit on the short side, around 8-10 hours but there pure bliss. This game really shows what the Playstation 3 is capable of. The bright colors, tropical forests, and gorgeous vistas, really show off your HDTV (720p-1080i). If you don't have this game and have a PS3 your nuts by not buying it. Uncharted is the Gears of War for PS3, it shows that the PS3 is truly the power-house Sony said it was. Uncharted is a really great game and its a shame it didn't sell as many copies as it should of.

Call of Duty 4 is the Best Shooter of the Year. The is single player is awesome, from sneaking missions, to sniping missions, to guns blazing. The single player is one of the best in a shooter, and I believe all gullied up is the best mission in any single player game, but where the game shines is multiplayer. COD4 rivals the likes of Socom for best multiplayer. The ranking system is the coolest part of COD online, every time you go up you get something like a gun or new challenges, so it keeps the experience fresh. Overall great game for any system. But wait until the patch to pick this one up!

Hardest Game of the Year

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

Ninja Gaiden Sigma was truly the hardest game of the year. The challenging bosses, distant save points, and low health potions will stretch your patience to the limit. This game was also gorgeous and at the time showed why the Playstation 3 was going to be a graphical powerhouse! Ninja Gaiden runs at 1920x1080 60fps (1080p). This game is hard, beautiful, and a great reason to get a Playstation 3!

Socom Tactical Strike is a awesome game for the PSP! This is the first Socom game that is made by Slant Six. Instead of going the way that Zipper was heading Slant Six made Socom Tactical Strike a Strategy game much like Full Spectrum Warrior. This game has amazing graphics for a PSP game and rivals the graphics found in Socom 2 (PS2). Socom TS is a great game but isn't really a portable game,with long missions its not very good to play on the bus to school or in study hall, since you cant play a little and shut it off, unless you want to put the PSP into sleep mode, which is a nice feature but I wouldn't do that since the PSP is one hot piece of hardware. Kidding aside if your a PSP owner and liked Full Spectrum Warrior you should do yourself a favor and pick this one up, or at least try the demo over here.

Best Long Running Series

Half Life Series

With the Orange Box coming out recently I noticed how awesome and realistic the Half Life series is. Half Life Games are beautiful in a realistic way, unlike in Gears of War where everything is bumpy and shiny, the Half life series takes everything realistically instead of huge monuments and stuff like that there are brick houses, instead of some crazy assault vehicle you get a beat up car or a junky dune buggy. Also the voice acting and story line are top notch and deserve more credit. These are nice touches that make the game enjoyable. So check out the Orange Box and find out for your self if you haven't done so yet!

Heavenly Sword

Heavenly Sword is the first game of the trilogy to appear on the PS3 and it was a sight for sore eyes. Basically pulling the PS3 from the slump it was experiencing and pretty much fulfilled the hype it had unlike Lair which should be getting better here soon. Heavenly Sword was short but it was great, the voice acting was phenomenal . The voice actors were very believable and passionate about what they were saying. The game overall was very good and was different that what was currently available. This is a game you should most defiantly check out!

Holloween, opps I mean Halloween Reveiw

Since this Blog is things I like and Dislike I think I should do a review of the new Halloween movie by Rob Zombie. When the movie starts you can immediately tell this is made by Rob Zombie. In the first 2min there is more swear words then in the entire first one. This movie isn't really a Halloween movie to me. It just follows a similar plot, there is a kid in Illinois that kills his family and goes nuts. This movie doesn't have the scaryness of the original ones, or the coolness factor. He doesnt seem like as much of a bad ass in this one. No one dies in a cool way, by cool I mean stuff I couldnt do myself or anyone else could do. I want more people going through walls and Michael jamming shotguns through people, or sticking a scalpel through people and sticking them up on the wall, thats what a true bad ass killer does. Halloween by Rob Zombie makes Michael Myers seem like an average killer. Before this movie I thought if Michael was to fight Jason, Michael would win. But after this Movie I'm not sure he could. I would say Jason X caught more classic Jason than this remake did of Michael Myers . I liked that there was more blood but did every person he killed have to be naked? I think two people he killed wasn't naked and one was taking a crap so he was half naked. Overall an ok movie but doesn't size up to any other Halloween movies.

Review incoming for High Velocity Bowling!!!! First thoughts, very good!

Review: High Velocity Bowling is a very well done bowling simulator. The highest score I ever got in real bowling was a 153 and in this game my highest I got was a 158. I'm not much of a good bowler so the game is a bit tough, not much tougher than regular bowling. High Velocity Bowling uses the Sixaxis to move your guy and through the ball etc... You hold the controller vertically placing your index finger and middle finger in between R1 and L1, and with your thumb in between the analog sticks. You tilt the Sixaxis right or left to move your guy, then you press X to keep him there, next you will see an arrow showing what angle you want, then press X to keep that angle, finally you pull the controller back and swing it forward to through the ball. Just like a real bowling. This game is one of the first, if not the first to support in game soundtracks. you just press select and you can access all of the music on your Playstation 3. High Velocity Bowling can output a resolution of 1080p and as far as I can tell has no multiplayer, it has leader boards which is nice to have. High Velocity Bowling is $10. For $10 you would think there would at least be splitscreen multiplayer but there isn't. They have mny characters to unlock some of them are very annoying, like Berry who always says "Hurry up I gotta pick up the mini-van from the shop" well thats great I really don't care. while there is 4 modes ( Practice, Head 2 Head, Tournament, and Trick Shots). By completing theses you unlock Characters, Bowling balls, and cloths. The game is very good even though its missing multiplayer and your custom soundtrack music isn't very loud, its still a solid BUY.

Will you feel the the Pain? (Review)

Last Thursday I bought a couple things from the Playstation Store. One of them being PAiN. PAiN is basically Burnouts Crash Mode where you have to cause as much damage as possible, except with a person. The game costs $10 and comes with 1 level and two playable characters, one is a guy named Jarvis with 3 costumes, "Regular", "Gangster", and "Hippie". PAiN uses the HAVOK physics engine for realistic rag doll and environment physics. Also the game supports DualShock 3, so you can experience PAiN in its full glory. The game gets kinda boring luckily the multiplayer and heavy downloadable content support keeps the game fresh. PAiN has two downloadable characters right off the bat a Santa Clause and a sexy Elf (?) type lady. Both are $1 which isn't bad but makes you wonder why they couldn't include them with the game. I would buy the game again since Idol Minds (developer) says to expect downloadable content monthly.

Fall Update! Be Easy....

Tomorrow the Xbox Live fall update goes live, you should be able to get it at 3:00a.m. est. The update doesnt really do to much except for enable DivX support, make the Dashboard/Guide (2x) faster and allow people under 18 to use Windows Live Messenger, and allows your friends to see your other friends. You can see the full list at xbox.com. Now a few reminders; make sure your not playing an online game around 3:00am est or you'll get kicked off and be asked to update. Another this is the update may not go live right away or you might have problems connecting to Live. If anything we've learned from past updates is they don't (always) go as planed. So chill out and everything will work its self out!

Today I bought Everyday Shooter for the PS3 off of the Playstation Store. The game cost $10 and it has around 8 levels. The game has a really cool art style and the back grounds are really cool because they shift by where you are and change colors. The game is really for its music, every time you hit something it plays a note that goes along with the background music. With the cool style and lots of unlockables make this as good if not better than Geometry Wars. When I saw the game was $10 I was like is it worth it, the game is like 38MB, GO! Sports Ski is around 300MB and its $3. Well I bought it, and so should you!

Halo 3 Reveiw

Last week October 5, after many problems I had with my Xbox and 5+ hours of Microsoft's "good'' customer support and all of my game saves getting deleted, I beat Halo 3! Halo 3 has a great single player game, the graphics are really good, even though the game runs a 640p and gets upscaled to 720p, 1080i, 1080p. The sound is well done and when you blow up stuff the explosions look amazing. The multiplayer is basically Halo 2 with crisper graphics, new vehicles, and new weapons. Halo 3 is much better than halo 2 and I would argue that Halo 3 is better than the first Halo. I went at midnight to wait for Halo 3 and it was really worth it! If you have a 360 and you don't have Halo 3 you are probably the only one and needs to go pick it up right now!

The Loco Wannabe... Reveiw

Today on the Playstation Store Sony released LocoRoco Cocoreccho! I guess you suppose to scream when you say the title, but after buying it for $7 there isn't really anything to scream about. The game is about a hour, hour and a half max. The game is really complicated you can have up to 200 loco's following you at one time. Unlike the PSP version where you use R1 and L1, which would of been a perfect fit for the sixaxis but instead someone thought it would of been a good idea for you to be a butterfly and have the loco's follow you. This is aggravating on a whole new level. When you want them to jump they don't, so you have to go all the way back around and try again. You can use the sixaxis to control certain platforms, flowers and levers like the one in the picture. Unless you really want it because you enjoyed the music and the funky graphics from the PSP version, I wouldn't pick this one up until the price drops.

Warhawk Soars.....

Finally some good news for a Playstation 3 game. According to vgchartz.com Warhawk has sold around 100 thousand copies a week after its release. I'm thinking that this is the retail versions since no one really knows about PSN sales except Sony. That goes to show you that people will buy "Online Only Games" as long as its good. This Game is a lot more fun and is selling faster than Shadowrun which is only at 210 thousand units almost a year after its release. Its about time us Playstation 3 owners have something to play other than Resistance. This game is a lot of fun and if you have a Playstation and your online I recommend you pick it up! See you in the skies.

The World Can End I Have Won!

Tuesday September 4 I beat Ninja Gaiden Sigma. It took me a lot longer than expected, around 21 hours to beat. This was the first time I played through a Ninja Gaiden game and I was very pleased with it and I'm excited for the sequel. Hopefully the sequel will be announced at T.G.S. later this month. If you haven't played Ninja Gaiden yet i would pick up Sigma! The game is Cheap at times but still enjoyable! For some this might not seem like a big deal but for the people that have beat it know how much of an accomplishment it is!
